That's what I wanted to know. The synth is good but the workflow gets hit hard by how laggy it is.

it uses alot of cpu .. but guys 15 years ago when Omnisphere came out it was the first synth to crush my I7 820 back then . then diva atc, all the time i upgraded to be able to run the latest plugins. on my 16core Zen 7 it runs without issues.
but on my macbook i5 its unplayable as long as the Gui is open , when i close it its running smooth. i think its progress

Come on, a VST should be usable on an average computer when it gets released -- otherwise what's the point? "We've released this software and in five years time your computer should be powerful enough to make this usable?"

It's not like they're using particularly computation-heavy synthesis techniques either. There are dozens of FM synths out there that use nothing at all. I bet the CPU that powers the hardware synth is a fraction of the power of the CPU's in our computer, so why is this so shit? My guess is they've just used some kind of crappy emulator to run the code from the hardware. And because the devs have got the latest and greatest hardware, they're like, 'OK, that's fine. Ship it.'

It sucks.

Edit: Oh, you're right about it working when you close the GUI. It drops to 10% - 25% of CPU if you turn off DasBlinkenLights. Still sucks though. I'ma stick with all the other great FM synths over this. You can have dozens and dozens of FM operators in VCV2 without any noticable effect on CPU at all.

Yeah, this is just meant for a bit of fiddling with it and render the result. Dexed on the other hand works perfectly and you can have as many instances as you like.

Could be a pretty spot on assumption [like Arturia stuff]... the freaking GUIs take too much CPU processing these days. They understand that people like very active GUIs with strobes and analysers and shit that is absolutely unnecessary. Just try Dexed if you love FM like I do. I wholeheartedly recommend it. Tens of thousands of sounds...

The Standalone takes 99% CPU Power.....

Under Studio One 5 it takes ~15% CPU

For me ver 1.0.0 works in Ableton at 13% average through factory presets, on a 2015 mac laptop with HS. I will check If this ver 1.01 is so cpu hungry, if it's true then I will go back to 1.0.0. Anyway I think this Opsix is a very good virtual instruments.

UPD:
Ver 1.0.1 behaves the same way as the previous one within Ableton: CPU 13% average. In activity monitoring Ableton's resources on CPU consumption instead is 50% with Opsix' GUI open, and 30% with GUI closed. (indeed a bit high)
