SPECTRAL MODELED WURLITZER
Reed200 is our second spectral modeled instrument. We can say it's all that we dreamed about. Clean and responsive timbre made out of the real Wurlitzer. Stacking up to 600 pure sinewaves, we achieved a perfect and accurate timbre reproducing the sound that a Wurli generates on the line output (Also we included a cabinet and drive emulator).

As in our Markus 88, we did most of the jobs manually. Despite the deep spectrum analysis we used to decode the timbre DNA, we focused on recreating the real feel of pushing down a key in a real Wurlitzer.

THE WURLITZER TIMBRE RECREATION
We discovered the Wurlitzer timbre is kind of unique. After doing our first modeled electric piano, Markus 88, we can tell Wurlitzer has some characteristics on the spectrum that makes it more dirty and punchy than a Rhodes.

What we've learned is that the main difference between Rhodes and Wurli is the perfect octaves harmonics (meaning 12 semitones up, 24, 36, 48, etc). Envelope for those partials are quite louder than in a Rhodes and this is one of the main secrets of Wurli timbre.

You can play a bit with this characteristic with our "Color" slider on our main interface.

Big thanks for the opportunity to try this out, Talula.
I've become wary of VSTis and Kontakt libraries, as I've bought more than a few that sounded dope in the demos, but the playing experience, well, it left a lot to be desired.

This Wurly sounds god awful weird and trashy, but thank you to Talula.

thanks Talula, I really like the sound of this Wurly others may complain but probably don't have enough imagination to see it's potential.

totally agree with you. built-in effects are completely useless, but using a chain of suitable third-party plug-ins, you get an amazing sound.

Based on the audio demo it sounds totally unnatural to me and not like a real instrument at all, to a degree that no 3rd party effects will be able to cure because the problem is in the fundamentals. That being said, obviously you did not design or produce this..."instrument" but only very kindly made it available, which I very much appreciate and thank you for, and thank you for everything that you do, and this of course is subjective - but yeah, I think this thing sounds terrible :) Best.

I wouldn't say "amazing," but...passable.
And, I agree, Flike, the problem is the fundamentals.

blazingstrat, Being that my comment is directly above yours I reasonably assume that you are referring to me. That is not "complaining" - it is a critique of what Sampleson have done and I made sure to thank Talula for providing this while making my remarks about Sampleson. There are many, many Wurly emulations and sample based Wurly vstis out there and in my opinion this one sounds god awful, weird and trashy. You do not have to agree with my opinion to be sure but you also do not need to attempt to slam me in that vague "lacking imagination" sort of way either. I think it sounds unnatural, weird and off. That does not mean that I lack imagination or appreciation of Talula making it available here.

So, this leaves a *lot to be desired. After about a 1/2 an hr of fiddling around, I got a passable tone out of it, but my plugin chain was fairly substantial (substantial for plugins being utilized for the sole purpose of making something usable.) Besides some utilitarian plugins, I got some decent, not-so-weak-and-squirrely tones with the help of McDSP's AC101--with only the input/output used to color it, no drive or compression (or "curve," as it's called, which wasn't helping--followed by either Nembrini's Rack Cleaner or, instead, Kazrog's True Iron and Black Rooster's VHL-3C. The problem is, you can't really dress this up with any saturation or meaningful deviations in the overall sound without making the timbre sound odd as hell. Basically, this isn't even a close contender for sampled libraries, such as GM's Neo Soul Keys or Purgatory Creek's 200A. It may be usable for some people, but I don't really see myself finding a use for it.
Anyway, thanks for the chance to try this out tulala.
I was curious to try out their Markus 88, since as much as I like Wurlis, I love a solid Mark I/Rhodes, but now I'm thinking it may be of the same quality.
(By the way, not a Markus request, just a comment. )
