Does this update improve cpu usage?

If there is a difference, it is very subtle.

That was I was hoping. This plugin is so intensive on the CPU!

Maybe using plug-ins outside of the instrument's internal offering would lower the power draw. Recording dry is usually the better option anyway. A reverb send with say Vintage Verb might fair better than not, for instance.

New features for Hammond B-3X 1.1:

• New Latch Mode for MIDI Controllers (this lets you use a momentary switch like a sustain pedal to change the Leslie speed, etc.)
• Sustain Pedal implementation
• New Hammond Profile for the XK-3 / XK-3c
• Added assignable MIDI Controller for Percussion 2nd/3rd Harmonic switch
• Fixed an issue with audio pops when changing amp models or mic positions
• Various performance enhancements

I see people saying this is better than VB3, but Im still struggling to see the benefits sonically of this clonewheel. Theres not even an option to enable “paradise mode”. Individual tonewheel bleed and volume isnt there either.

They are the new kid on the block, and slowly learning the demands imposed on other clone wheels. Lots of requests on their site. Will take some time to get there. At least they are listening. Plenty of tweaks under the hood to sound like VB3, just have to go past presets and spend some time. GSI horribly failed with VB3 II. This is what GSI should have produced with VB3 II.

standalone does not work, Windows 10. Also I noticed a slightly longer loading time on the plugin

I personally don't find that this brings anything unique to a market flooded with Hammond clones. Most of them fail to reproduce the overdriven Leslie. It is not distortion or fuzz.... it is a very distinctive throaty growl. I disagree with westfinch and believe the GSi VB3-II is the closest I have found. Better than the valve pre-amp in my Hammond XK-3c. This is specifically aimed at the overdrive, I am not reviewing the entire instrument.
I can also say this is a very bright , pure tone compared to the GSi, which is a thick sound having just done a side by side drawbar match. It's good to have so many B3's at my fingertips. What a world we live in!!

Sounds logical, but not 'most of them', however, they all fail, and will fail until the end of time.
I think I should explain:
Leslie is a physical effect on the environment in which it is located, the sound is hurled so fast ,thousands of times in all directions, so when we hear a poor cd, headphones, big Tapes or even the old vinyl, the physical effect Leslie's is just a "ordinary photograph" of a moment, of course most of people just listen to a "super vibrato" that is far more interesting than the Hammonds programmable vibratos themselves. So Leslie is not considered vibrato not to mix things up.
The "Leslie" is far from the overdrive effects, which will be produced by other physical factors than a spinning box in question. Overdrives it is possible to listen from any media, cd etc, because it has unique direction, but really not the "Leslie" effect.
By the way, such a slide, the other samples like "NI B4" are due in this regard.
While junk companies like Roland, Technics, Yamaha were swinging in trees and copying each other, while "IK Multimedia" was developing more dynamic and realistic sounds. Today, only Yamaha, Nord and a few others are trying to reach a good place in this competition.

Quite correct. They all fail. Excellent explanation.

200% agree...

How can they emulate an effect that makes the sound waves spin all over the place like there were hundreds of monitors flying around our head, in a big room...by simply applying some sort of vibrato/chorus/delay/overdrive effect to the sound....

I dont think any AI or physical modeling will ever get close to the real thing. .. unless we listen through some special 7.1 closed headphones..and still...

..but how cool it was, to play with the procol harum preset , on the NI B4 :)

The same occur if someone else listen to a Cd/Vinyl, all that physical effects goes down.
Thinking this way, we cannot listen to any digital or cds anymore. But, all that digital has a "photo", moment of what was done in some place.

my friend has one of these in his studio we did an a/b..the only difference is the analog feel and sound created by the use of electrical current.........this is spot on.........

Thanks for the update. It's interesting but as soon as I played my first note, I noticed the C3 vibrato is not accurate. Anyone looking for a classic jazz sound will hear that immediately. GSI VB3 has done it right all along and tops the list if that sound is something you're looking for.
