I'd be interested in community opinion as to how many people opt for this over Kontakt. I have SampleTank 3 and never use it. Recently loaded Syntronik. Awful. Modo drums. Disappointing. Is IK Multimedia the quality brand it once was? I'd post this on the other site but I'm permanently banned. I'd like to come back if anybody's reading this.

The NI Kontakt engine is currently one of the worst in the market, sound wise.
Kontakt is unbeatble for the available 3rd party libraries, but for the sound Sampletank and Halion, just for example, are far above.
Basically you can hear the "Kontakt sound" in a track... I hope they will update their engines soon.

Oh please. What a bunch of baseless nonsense. "Kontakt sound"? Did you just make that up now? Kontakt is a colorless sampler. Sounds exactly like the sounds you put into it and has one of the most powerful, efficient engines on the market.

It means that people want to believe they can hear the difference, and the reasons for that desire cause a lot of problems far worse than sampler wars...

But no, I've had my dog listen to both and he is satisfied with either.

Depending on your age: You prefered Emu samplers over Akai because "the converters were much much much much smoother!"?
Your louspeaker cabling cost hundrets of bucks (or thousands, depending on your budget)?
You would never (ever!) use protools, because as we all know, the sound engine of protools totally sucks and sounds awful.
And finally: You got yourself an interface with 24 outputs to sum up out of box, because that's the only way to do it. summing in the box totally trashes all music, kills your spirit animal and so on.
My gosh, download some measurement software from here, generate a sweep, let kontakt play that sweep, analyse it and come back with a plot to proof your statement.

I have smpletank 3 and never use it, I think I'm going to trash it. 100Go For ST 4 ! hope all other expansion libs included !!
I use amplitube regularly, that's a good product. Modo bass is good (but I often replay it).

tried v3, what i found is that the orchestral sounds don't worth the HD space they occupy: very basic, boring sounds compared to what you can have with Kontakt libs, I even found aliasing on some orchestral collections (Miroslav...)!!!

...BUT everything related to synthesis (example: Samplemoog, Mellotron... and even Syntronik) is... no bad, not bad at all!

I dunno if this v4 is really an improvement compared to V3, but I recommend to just put an ear or two on the (analog only) synths sounds.
