Wavetable
Immediately playable, infinitely capable, Wavetable is a new synthesizer built by Ableton. Shape, stretch and morph sounds using wavetables derived from analog synths, and a range of other instruments and sounds. Start sculpting sounds right away—even without a deep knowledge of synthesis—or explore its rich palette and potential through an intuitive interface.

Echo
Echo brings together the sound of classic analog and digital hardware delays in a single device—your new go-to delay. Drum Buss

Pedal

Instead of disabling Windows Defender totally, you can add files or folders as "exclusions".
In "Windows Defender Security Center", go to "Virus & Threat Protection Settings".
Scroll down to "Exclusions" - "Add or Remove Exclusions".
You may choose files and folders you do not want scanned.
Because I trust what I get here, and I MAKE MANY BACKUPS, I choose my download folder & my storage folder for all my warez.
Then i choose other programs and folders if they seem slow.
Maybe just the executable, but if you trust the program, maybe exclude the whole folder.
I'd LIKE to exclude my whole PC EXCEPT for folders that the "internet" uses, but i don't know what all those are !
Actually, it's a good idea to Google this. I am just saying what I do.

Placing these folders on exceptions in Defender solved it for me:
- C:\ProgramData\Ableton
- C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Ableton
- Your plugin folder

yup r2r-7193.r03, r2r-7193.r04 and r2r-7193.r05 are ~1,5 Mo instead of 50 Mo We have to wait for a repack for macos version I guess

Max4Live is cpu extensive. Envelope takes freakin 5% on my old machine. Dune 2 takes 3 percent on a supersaw. WTF Ableton.

Your system limitations are not Ableton's problem. It's always been the same, the faster the machine, the more you can do.

ableton really could do better with m4l cpu efficiency. better m4l cpu efficiency was one of the things they promised with the release of 10 - sure it loads faster, but i really don't see a big jump in cpu improvement (and i have a decent 16core 64g ram machine). but i guess if you're making boring edm or dubstep and you only need 1 lfo or envelop for your whole track, then it doesn't really matter ;)

i have a i7 4790, on win 10 using live 10.0.3 which is basically the same as 0.4.

for me, works just fine with more then 1 lfo and envelope running 30+ tracks at 96khz 24bit filled with plugins.

you should better think that the real problem is your so amazing 16core joke and whole set up you got going on instead of blaming it on live 10. cause clearly i don't have such problems.
