The blue3 is one of the emulations that I like best of all.
I ran some tests and made a comparison with the previous version 1 which has the different gui.
I have to say that they sounds different.
in version 2 of course, in addition to restyling the graphic interface, an attempt was made to improve the sound, which became rounder, more warm, maybe definitely more faithful to the original. However, since version 1, it lost detail in transients, resulting more gloomy, although in reality it's only more linear in its frequency spectrum. Version 1 is more dirty, more gritty, maybe colder but the transients are more obvious, the attak seems faster, overall seems more defined by a more aggressive character at the expense of a poor performance in the low-end.
I decided to use them both, as it's as if they were two b3 referred to two different years, using either one or the other depending on what I want to get in the final mix.
It 's definitely a matter of taste, but I think that vers 1 dosn't deserve to be trashed or replaced by vers 2 just for a matter of update.
Basically it' a question that also affects many soft- synths on the market, which in their evolution intended as an update of the versions, add or lose something in their sound character.
