Thanks Ehrwaldt for keeping on releasing these updates for Bitwig Studio, it goes a long way for people wanting to keep in touch with this DAW and see if it will ever truely be the DAW for them. Especially since it's still a relatively new DAW but has quite a bit of potential to become the new Ableton for obvious reasons.

Once again little shout out to OLSNAD for bringing us the original crack.

Can anybody enlighten me how to run the .jar keygen on Mac 10.9.5? I do get a error msg saying that it could not open the .jar file and to check Konsole for any Errormsg.
Console says: 07.04.16 13:15:37.153 xpcd[222]: Info.plist does not contain an XPCService dictionary: /System/Library/Frameworks/Security.framework/XPCServices/SecurityAgent.xpc

This Errormsg is a bit of a riddle for me, so i hope someone of you folks could help me out with this!

Say MoonDust: I Googled your issue. It seems that you need JRE on your machine. Mac no longer ships the JRE with the OS. The article says to Perform this: "Make Executable the .jar file (sudo chmod +x filename.jar). After that, double-click. File should then work successfully".

I cant get the keygen to run on 10.11.3 :-/ both apple java and oracle java are updated etc, but when i run the file, it just minimizes to dock... tried changing permissions etc... no go :-/

suggestions ?

this keygen has no flashy window. it's easy to miss...
all it does is pop a fileopen dialog to selected the requestfile
and then a filesave dialog to store the response.

just in case i'll check and report back in a few mins..

--update: kg works here (10.11.4)

--update2: it takes a couple seconds to pop up...

i have tried that, same result... it opens with just the titlebar (red / yellow / green buttons) and minimizes to the dock. When i click the icon on the dock, it pops up and in a couple of seconds the app halts and is not responding :-/

I now get the dialog where i can select the request file, but when i select it, nothing happens, and the app crash :-/

I ran into similar problems with the keygen. The first dialog window to locate the req. file from Bitwig appeared only after a few retries and crashes and nothing happend after that.
Only after i batchmodded the Bitwig req-file the keygen also came up with the dialogwindow to save the response file. To get there i had again to try it some times until the keygen worked. I run 10.9.5, maybe the keygen is more stable on 10.10 +.

Same error here, first dialog shows up but the second write dialog not.
I tried changing the permission but without success ... yet ?

Got it working after some twitches here and there. I had to batchmod the generated req.file to get it finally working.
The keygen was a bit wacky. Only after some attempts it opened the dialog window to locate the req.file, then it stayed put. Some 10 times laters it finally also came up with the dialogwindow to save the response file.

thx 4 the reports... had some weirdness with the kg on my elcap-vm too.
gotta check on my native osx, but that's only 10.9.x so maybe won't help.

-update:

it's weird...
no probs using the kg on native 10.9.5, but on my vm (10.11.4 guest) it's really messed up.
sometimes doesn't come up at all, sometimes the filechooser pops up, but i can't browse, etc...
so i made (with my non-existent javaskills) an app that only pops the filechooser to see if the error was in the keygen.
guess what: not working either. not having the 'won't pop up at all' problem, but navigating still doesn't work :(

i ran the keygen on windows, and used the request file from mac, the response file generated on win works just great on mac :)

if you upgrade from an older liberated version,
i think the following should save your old reg:
-install new (replace the old install)
-replace bitwig.jar with patched one

if you run the unpatched new version, i think it reverts to demo...
