ReDominator is an emulation of the classic Alpha Juno 1/2 (JU-1/2), a polyphonic DCO (digitally controlled oscillator) based synth from 1986. The JU-1/2 became popular in the early 90's techno and rave scene particularly by the classic Hoover sound (which ReDominator attempts to emulate accurately). But beyond those niche sounds there lays a versatile synthesizer that does bass, pads, leads, organs and a lot of other sounds waiting to be discovered!

DCO

Featuring fourteen (14) different harmonically rich waveforms including a unique PWM-sawtooth. Three waveforms can be combined per voice enabling massive sounds.

VCF

ReDominator contains a high quality 24dB/octave lowpass filter with a warmth control (VCA level) which unlike the original Alpha Juno causes warm overtones in place of harsh digital distortion when overdriven.

Envelope

ReDominator features a unique 8 parameter envelope which enables much more complicated and expressive sounds than a standard ADSR. There are four time settings, three levels and a unique keyboard scaling parameter which gives the sound a "sampler" quality.

Every professional knows that Roland was never equipment for professionals, and that this company spent millions to artists use their products full of limitations, the last one was 'Sir Elton John' who earned rivers of money to use 'Roland Piano keyboard' on stage until he got tired.

I compare Roland with mud when we modeled various forms and make ceramic pieces, or any other plastic material that in the hands of good artists out immense works in space. Honestly, I congratulate these artists, because they could perpetuate some works that will be remembered until the end of time, having used Roland. Not to mention Tr-808, that maybe is the 'right bullet in the middle of the coin' that Roland did, and is part of the 80's decade sound.

all have technologies aboard that were unbelieveable at their time. Pretty much almost magic. The Roland guys develope totally new stuff most of the time. Sure, there are some crappy synth in their history, but... and their marketing is crap, cause probably very few people know and can use the technologies in their V-Synth and Jupiter80 to its full potential.

PS: Jupiter 8, VP-330?!!!!! LOL

I think you are a bit mistaken mr. blumenfeld. the 808 and 303, for example, werent even meant to be used as studio equipment and didnt even sell well. it was the people who had purchased them that discovered the potential of the devices as instruments in themselves. Also, the juno and jupiter are amazing synths that have their own unique charm many other synths lack. The JP8000 was an essential element to the establishment of trance as a genre and style of music. As far as virtual pianos go and wavetable modules Roland has always been at the top for the era. Even now with the Integra-1, that module has the power to replace troughs of vsts and kontakt instruments.

Just A-B'd this with an Alpha Juno 2.
Sadly it's not even close.
The envelope in the Juno is much more snappy and the Re-Dominator has that digital top end brittleness associated with most plugins.
Having said that, the Re-Dominator is still very much usable.
In 2010 I gave up women and Booze. It was the worst 20 minutes of my life.
