There is a recent thread on AudioSex where someone explains how to log changes made to the system for Mac OS X. On Windows I use Revo Uninstaller to run trace installs. You're guaranteed to get if not all then a lot more of whatever remnants are left behind. Honestly this subject really pisses me off because it's this dirty little secret that for some reason developers don't code proper uninstallers, it's just lazy in my opinion. I mean how hard is it to add whatever changes are made to a list for the uninstaller to remove at a later date. If Revo and other apps can do it then why can't they do it in the first fucking place?

Thanks Catalyst, I did indeed read that thread, and there are alternatives out there, none of which I have found to be successful or consistent on osx.... and in the hands of some, could end up with disastrous consequences (deleting important system files etc... e.g.: in CleanApp you really have to be on your toes with the "community suggested" files etc, or you could find yourself with a bricked system....)... I will re-read thread extensively though. I run a pretty clean system, and have a fairly decent operating knowledge of the underlying processes, but sometimes I am left with some head scratchers...

But you are 100% right Catalyst on the irresponsibility of devs and their incomplete uninstallers. Like demo's and whatnot, they usually leave behind all sorts of receipts and .plists and noise.... Every other month or so I audit my system folder and user folder etc out of curiosity, and am amazed at stuff left behind.... But thanks for the advice, and again, will reread the thread you mentioned, I saw it a month or so ago... For some reason, the Izotope ones are the main problems for me, and I use their stuff a lot.

Now I'm on mobile and can't link,
anyway the best way is to run the installer
while logging with fseventer.
But if the leftover is from a previous version
it becomes harder. Didn't noticed anything strange here.

How about disc imaging or things like Time Machine? You can even automate certain imaging applications so that images are created every so often. It's a little bit of a pain to setup but the result is you're guaranteed to get back to a clean state. That's when partitioning or multiple drives shines because you can make images of the system drive and your personal files on different schedules and be completely separate from each other.

Thanks gentlemen for your suggestions. I do super duper clone my system drive, (had some early problems with Time Machine when it first was released, so kind of avoid it, plus, in a work situation is not a bootable solution, BUT would help in this scenario Cat! )….

Right now, ironically, my BU system drive shat the bed, and need to get another 1TB Sata drive to have a backup of my 1TB SSD system drive, which should only cost what, 60$? Just been playing too fast and loose lately or busy, and obviously would need to let it run overnight, and haven't made time. My bad, …but heading over to Newegg now to get a new backup drive:)

The problem I guess has been cumulative with Izotope releases, probably from different releases (Ind or SCENE) over years, (I know CLEAN INSTALL IN ORDER!), but who has 4 days to reinstall Komplete etc right now? :), and I have been diligent in not polluting my work system with anything or apps non-music related, legit software, and/or well vetted releases from here etc… It's just the Izotope releases that are weird for me, so perhaps I should just start there…. It's not killing me now, just nagging, and since we all are OCD, feel compelled to fix it…. But I was restoring some audio last evening, and damn, it was frustrating!

Copylefter: Does fseventer LOG past installs once installed? Or does it only show you real time what is going on and where…. ? Briefly looking at the software doesn't know if it keeps a history log, which would be helpful. I guess since releases have been fast and furious lately (DAMN YOU HEXWARS :))… Perhaps I have gotten a little sloppy and playing without a net, which again, is stupid on my part. I was just wondering if anyone else experienced any weird AUHook type errors on Izotope stuff…. Sorry for the LOOOONG comment, But I sincerely appreciate both of your advice, and will follow!

and ps: sorry for polluting thread with other issues, it's just the izotope one I wanted to query about, and was wondering if anyone else experienced the same…. again, realize it's probably related to some extant bullshit on my cpu, and I know it is not Team HEXWARS bug,…..(lest any other members here think there is a problem with the release, there is NOT, this is my own personal problem, not related to this package, … just to make clear that HEXWARS has a fine release..:))

Is anyone having issues using this with Yosemite 10.10.1?..

After running RX for the first time it freezes when I close it and I have to force quit.

Also when opening RX again and using the Resample module, all the filter settings are broken, all are set to 0?...

Can anyone advise?...

I'm having issues, on Yosimite 10.10.2, but not running the actual program it works fine to a point.

It just crashes every time I record directly into the program, everything else is fine.

Anybody else having this issue?
