All of the sounds of the knife kit originate from a metal heating unit being struck with an assortment knives. Once recorded, the sounds were then processed with various effects including granular synthesis. The resulting samples maintain the original metallic characteristics while sonically transcending the original sound source.

The Knife-Kit includes:

25 individual sounds
original field recordings and processed versions
range of metallic timbres including percussion and drone

Each sound in the Knife-Kit was chosen for it’s unique characteristics and potential to inspire. Some of the original source recordings are also included as another tool for creating new samples.
