Great Post... Many thanks, Demon! Maybe I'll now be able to get the Anal C*nt signature sound!?
Ha!Ha! Seriously, I've been trying to find something that emulates Robin Guthrie's guitar sound on the first 3 Cocteau Twins albums... I found some "shoegaze / dream gaze" patches that weren't bad & have made my own attempts but they all fall way short... & yes! I know he used a shed load of floor & rack units to get that particular sound. Maybe it's unrealistic to expect to come close to it in Guitar Rig?
Has anyone out there also tried to emulate the Cocteau Twins sound? With success!?
Cheers!

AudioSex my friend. It's a better place to ask your question and that way even if nobody knows then it will be up for a later date when someone does.

I've tried, but I've never quite got it right. There's a really good thread about it here that I bookmarked years ago (apologies for continuing the conversation here and linking to another forum)

Robin Guthrie Sound

I quote:

his setup circa 1990 was:
paul reed smith guitar>
boss exciter>
boss chorus>
yamaha d1500 delay>
harmonizer>
boss phaser>
boss hi-band flanger>
boss flanger>
boss vibrato>
volume pedal>
cry baby wah>
another delay>
pair of rivera combos

Oh nice, thanks so much. You can link to Gearslutz, it's cool. I also caught a few other articles Building an Iconic Sound: Cocteau Twins and this one where there are posts from the man himself: http://www.cocteautwinsforums.com/archive/index.php/t-570.html

Oh and by the way there are archives from different years and different forums on that CT forum one (just click the cocteautwinsforums at the top of my 2nd link where it shows the hierarchy) you can go through and find all the details. Yes yes I know, Cat you're the best.

I just found time to do it myself! I imported everything, except the country stuff. Very unlikely that I'd even try that :D

Just updated my GR5 to the newest version,I was running 5.1,and in the process of upgrading found out that I never had it installed right. It's supposed to be installed with Reflektor,Traktors 12 and Rammfire. After installing latest R2R,had to find all the 2.0 Updates from R2R. Workin like a champ now. Also if anyone needs the GR5 5.20 R2R update or the 3 Updates for the expansions and cant find em...PM me

I just used "easy find" to search the main folder for the gtr rig file extension and then all the files at once dragged over.

Thanks very much....I'm not likely to see daylight for a few days now....I'll be too busy messing around with all these presets, trying to find the ONE that sounds so fucking cool (in my imagination) that it makes up for my...how do we say.....'pedestrian-level sub-par chops' on the guitar. Great guitar sound helps suspend disbelief...or something like that....
Thanks
Mike
