Plugin Extension For Nam and Genome | AudioZ Exclusive | 1.22 MB
We're still rolling with more of the new Series 3 profiles, next up is the infamous Emperical Labs FATSO profiles!

The Emperical Labs Fatso hardware processor was designed to reproduce the warm, ambient sounds produced by older valve processors and magnetic tape machines through harmonic and distortion generation, high frequency saturation (warmth), transformer and tape head emulation, and classic knee compression.

With its unique combination of tape emulation, compression, and harmonic generation, the FATSO enriches your recordings with character and dimension. Whether you're tracking, mixing, or mastering, experience the richness and presence that only the Emperical Labs FATSO can deliver.

We sampled 5 of the most used hardware settings to give you profiles that will work right across your productions, giving you that elusive analog compression and saturation right in your DAW. There's plenty of the Fatso spank to be had in these profiles, but due to the dynamic nature of the sampling feel free to dial it back if you need a more subtle approach, but we guarantee you'll soon be cranking the gain up again to get you firmly back into spanky territory that the Fatso is renowned for.

Other Fatso emulations have come and gone, and most of those digital recreations lay resting in the audio plugin graveyard on many hard drives across the world, but were about to resurrect faith in true analog plugins with the AnalogXAi sampled Fatso profiles! We promise that you'll look at software based compression in a new light after trying our Series 3 Tech.

If they're NAM profiles they're mono. My main point here is why release compressor/saturater IRs as a guitar amp sim profile? That's nuts! Surely the smart thing 2 do would be 2 release them as stereo IRs that can b loaded in any of the many IR loaders out there.

Only placing them in NAM makes them mono. Placing them in something like Genome or the before-mentioned NAM Universal plays the file back in stereo. Making them as IRs defeats the purpose since IRs are static.
These profiles are dynamic. I.e. when you change the volume, the eq and saturation change (within the captured range). IR volume changes remain the exact same, except for the loudness.

I think if you use these capture in a stereo capable NAM-engine, it will basically apply them as dual-mono (= stereo), where the left and the right channel will be processed independently. Please correct me if I'm wrong!

quote by Damannlol so ur suggesting i load mono compressor/saturater IRs into a mono guitar amp sim then repeat that again in a plugin wrapper to recreate the sound & behaviour of a stereo compressor/saturater? that sounds like utter madness. & hey, let's not worry about the phase issues huh?

Hi.

This is the only circumstance where you absolutely can't get any phase cancellation. It's the same file. Same exact carbon copies of each other can't have phase discrepancies other than to move one few milliseconds back or forward, or to switch their polarity. You need differences not sameness to put two files out of phase.
Take two phase coherent, time aligned, identical files, put them on two different tracks and play them together. Would they be out of phase? Tell me what you hear? They could either double the volume, if they are in phase, or completely cancel each other when you switch them intentionally out of phase. Switch their polarity and they will completely cancel itch or move one a few milliseconds away when they start to flange. Other than that, i am in agreement with you that they should absolutely profile separately both canals of any stereo equipment, not because they will be more phase coherent with two totally independent canals, quite contrary is the truth, but so we can actually have some phasing and flanging effect that naturally occurs when you combine two ever so slightly different signals as dual mono-stereo, even though it would be very small one in equipment like in this case, almost imperceptible. All stereo analog equipment is the sum of two mono signals if you disregard power supply. Do you use stereo monitors, or do you have two agnostic, separate independent mono speakers? Stereo is dual mono, especially in the digital domain.

Why do you actually need IRs when you have a NAM profiles? They are static frequency response filters which NAM also captures as well, but NAM will, as opposed to IRs, capture all other frequency deviation dynamically across all volume levels of original hardware, because frequency response isn't static in analog equipment, especially when you overdrive it when all hell breaks loose with frequency once you start to overdrive it. NAM captures all that frequency deviation occurrences, plus dynamically captures all other nonlinearities like saturation, distortion, even compression, everything that you wished to hear from IRs but they couldn't deliver in the past 20 years.

Comparing IRs to NAM is like comparing scanned photo of original sculpture (IRs), to 1:1 high resolution 3D scanning and 3D printing of original sculpture (NAM).

appreciate the sharing of my work. Please if you can do support me, every penny has gone back into building AnalogX in the last 12 months and were close to delivering Genesis, the first profile loader for pro audio needs and if Genesis is successful I can move on to Quantum (think Nebula but better). New 96k custom CNN based tech is imminent also and it has taken 24 hour 7 day weeks to get to where im at. Pack prices are low at around £14 so I do appreciate anyone who supports me on this Journey. Best Regards Stuart

Guys, please support our man. He has been part of the Audioz and Audiosex community and regularly participates on the forum. Also, he has something great in the making, a real competitor to Nebula / AA, without the nonsense!
