The Army of Ninjas Sylenth Utility is a small program that has been designed to help users easily install a working, customized installation of the ubiquitous Sylenth1 soft-synth. It primarily acts as a skin browser and installer. However, it can launch the latest installers for both the x86 and x64 versions of Sylenth. It can install an authorization file and a collection of soundbanks as well. Within the "options" menu are a number of other features (like the ability to save all files--including preview images of the skins and a skin editor). The user should be able to easily install Sylenth, authorize it, select and install a skin, and copy over the soundbank collection to their computer. Another goal was to update the very large (but very old) selection of skins that were available to the latest version--to allow all the various skins to load the very latest presets correctly (mono was able to help me out immensely in this department by updating, converting, and fixing the vast bulk of the skins within the collection). These goals have been accomplished with the utility--and it represents the most comprehensive collection of Sylenth files available anywhere. The utility requires .NET framework v4.5 or higher. About The Army of Ninjas Sylenth Utility:
This project was developed with the intention of updating Sylenth's enormous and extremely outdated collection of existing skins to the latest version, updating the equally enormous soundbank collection to include all of the latest releases, including the correct installers to achieve a working x86 or x64 installation, and including a pre-generated authorization file--all in a small, easy to use, self-contained, and convenient package. Nearly all of the skins had to be either updated to the latest version of the plugin (v2.2.1.1 for 64-Bit and v2.2.1.2 for 32-Bit) or fixed to eliminate the infamous "arrow button problem" common to nearly all of the existing ports of older Sylenth skins--and mono put in the hard work that was necessary to make this collection of skins possible. As such, any of the included skins can load any of the included presets with no risk of getting the (also infamous) "can not load preset" error. At this point in time, the utility is only able to detect the x86 version of the iDONTKNOWHO release of Sylenth (but this should be resolved in a future update of the program, and the manual "browse" button works fine in the interim). The program includes a set of basic instructions that guide the novice user through the steps that are required to go through a new installation of the synthesizer. Of course, it can be used for simple jobs too--such as skin-browsing and skin-installation or just copying the soundbank collection to your Sylenth installation folder. The program is meant to function much like a "Swiss Army Knife" for the Sylenth soft-synth. When using the "save skin" button, the skin will save to your PC with the name "Sylenth1.dll" because some DAW's don't function correctly with multiple skins installed (Cubase 8, being one such example)--and because if you remove any instances of Sylenth running in your DAW, it is possible to "hotswap" skins with the DAW still open and without updating your plugin list. However, the "save all files" option allows the user to simply save all of the included files (with the skin files named the unique title of the skin itself) and manually use them however they wish. Included in the collection of files is a resource editor that can be used for skinning Sylenth easily. It is the fastest editor I have ever used for such purposes and the included version is a portable one (no installation required). This utility has been written for Windows Vista, 7, 8, and 8.1 and requires .NET Framework v4.5. As such, I am unsure of compatibility outside of this environment (it may still work, but I can not guarantee it). There are no current plans for a Mac version of the program.
