HORiZON got a little held up with the rest of the gifts we prepared for the holidays and so they are arriving a little later than customary. We would like to wish you all a very happy New Year. We hope the coming year will usher in a new era of abundance, creativity and inspiration for you all. We promise it's going to be a year that will be remembered and spoken of for a long time to come. To those that have contributed to the cause in 2014 we are very grateful for your unwavering commitment but most of all for your spirit.

A huge, detailed, finely crafted selection of alive, lyrical, dramatic, pads, voxes, drones and widescreen atmospheres.

Furthermore you'll get inspiring keys, arpeggios/rhythmic presets!

100+1 unique patches!

You'll find a new, versatile, responsive, highly playable instrument inside most of the presets.

For example PD Angelic Performance you can start with a nice voicy soft pad, play at high velocity to let slow warm strings sneak in, then turn up Macro 2 and some lovely synth horns begin to play in the mix. With further opening of the modwheel, a full blown bright string/orchestra evolves.

Modwheel, pitch bend, velocity and aftertouch are set. In some cases pitch bend acting as filter cutoff up/down. More modulations are coming with the 4 macros. You can set these to use with MIDI learn on your preferred MIDI controllers (right click on the macro).

You can use those controllers for expressive live playing and also for fine tuning in your DAW after recording.

Typical use of the macros:
  • Env speed (slow or fast strings/pads)
  • Increase or decrease swelling in a pad (still or animated pads)
  • Vibrato
  • Speed of the LFO in rhythmical or trill patches
  • To add more air or other openings

(+ demo MIDI and Cubase project files)

Warmed provide lots of emotional inspiration for film, ambient composers and keyboardists.

Glad it makes you happy Artic, please enjoy.

Guys please support the developer. I'm really happy that HORiZON delayed this release like they always do because it's a really great soundset and the developer deserved to have some time to make unfettered sales. In fact it's actually on sale now until the 5th so perfect that it's released right as the sale is over. HORiZON is very considerate and I really respect that.

It comes with presets, MIDI and Cubase projects for anyone interested.

You're welcome, enjoy. It's a proof of concept that Serum can sound warm though people generally associate its sounds with cold and sterile. It's really a unique Serum soundset, haven't heard many like this.

Beautiful sentiment for real.

Still haven`t got round to installing Serum, maybe these "warm" patches are the push I need. Thanks for sharing and caring HORiZON.

You and I must be the only ones left on this planet that haven't installed Serum. I'm very close to doing it as soon as I have some free time. So maybe next year.

I think it's time Pilzy, I don't know about you but I love wavetables and this soundset has me intrigued.

I compose for trailers and various commercial media mostly and I come here to try things out before I buy. (I used to produce records for pop stars but those days are way, long gone!)
This place has saved me tens of thousands of dollars!!! Most of the things I think I would like, I realize are masked by great sounding demos. THANK YOU AUDIOZ!!!

Honestly, I wouldn't pay for Serum though. It doesn't hold that much value to me. I'm still trying it out but so far I'm not liking the "digital" sound. It is cold, shrill and lifeless. So much so that they had to include an enormous effects rack to actually make it sound good. I am going to test this soundest in it to see if it's worth me keeping but I've probably already made my decision...
This synth will definitely find its faithful (like anything else) but I realized that if I cannot see myself paying for a product, I certainly can't afford to hoard it either. I found out the hard way when one by one, my back-up hard drives began to fail. Little did I know they only have a 3 to 5 year shelf life (and need to constantly spin)... So I recently cleaned house and only kept what I could afford to keep... financially and spatially (until I can go all HDD).

No offense intended to those Serum lovers! I appreciate your passion. But..."I drive a Ford, you drive a Chevy"... to each his own, right?

Happy New Year!

To each his own. I like analog drift a lot but I look at digital synths as just another tool in the toolbox. It all depends on what kind of stuff you're into and what kind of track you're working on. I haven't even tried it yet so I can't offer an opinion on it. It certainly looks and sounds interesting. Sure it can be cold and sterile but I think you can also make some nice timbres. Razor also is interesting in that way, offering something worthy of experimentation. Look at Massive too but there are presets out there that make you take a second look.

yeah, honestly, despite it's overt digital sound and OG presets..., I have found it to be COMPLETELY NON STERILE.... a lot of animation to be found, and if you know what you are doing, or mess around a bit with it.... it is a tremendous synth. My favorite of the year (2014), and I am usually an "analog" type guy....
..grateful for HEXWARS, R2R, SYNTHiC4TE, CASHMERE & ALL teams, AZ crew past and present, and friends I have met here . RIP and LOVE to Olymoon and his family.

Unfortunately digital synths will always sound digital. If you want the analogue sound you have to buy the real thing.
  Resident 25.04.2012 74 7705
+14321
Exactly. If analog is more your bag then I would suggest uhe to get close in the digital domain or hardware. It's like complaining that a screwdriver isn't a paintbrush. They both have their uses. If you're into wavetable synthesis then you'd have to be a madman not to use Serum.

Well... if I want analog... I don't try to get it from soft synths. I record the real analog synths. Who are we kidding? I'm only referring to soft synths. When I say "digital", (to me anyway) it is a crystal clear, rather unfeeling, mathematical sound. Hard to describe except for those of us lucky enough to have been around analog tape, vinyl and the transition to CD's. Remember how clean CD's sounded when they first came out? (those who are old enough). Then remember how everything sounded like it was recorded in the same studio environment? How lifeless recordings began to sound? Digital. I's & 0's. It has it's place, as does everything... but I like soft synths from U-He, and Omnisphere, Diversion, most of NI, Sylenth, Dune, LuSH-101, even Spire and Z3TA+2, Arturia, LinpLug, Olga, some Papen. I can get anything from any of those synths to do what Serum does and more...
I also like to layer and NOT feature any one synth at a time anyway, so sound design is critical to me in a grand scheme not on one synth... but...?
"To each his own" (There's no right or wrong answer...)

Oh and Cat: Thanks for all you do.
