The Unfinished Absynth Nostromo For Native Instruments Absynth NABS-HORiZON screenshot
HORiZON | November 24, 2014 | 4.92 MB

Absynth Nostromo is a collection of 128 sounds for cinematic scoring and ambient electronica.

Nostromo is inspired by the cinematic sounds of Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross and Dave Porter, and the electronic noises of Boards of Canada, Biosphere and I Break Horses.

Full of wobbly, widescreen leads; broken, beefy basses; lush, lo-fi pads; savage, soulful soundscapes; and complex, compelling sequences.

Hewn out of Absynth’s deep and destructive synthesis and sampling engine, Nostromo has a delicate, analogue soul, wrapped in a robust, digital skin. This soundset is all about drift, dirt and dynamics.

The vibe and inspiration was the tone of beautiful, classic ARP and Sequential Circuits synths run through the rough-edged, early samplers of EMU and Akai.

Here is a world of analogue beasts that haven’t warmed up properly, wavetable synths running off leaky batteries and old skool samplers that have been left out in the rain. By turns both quirky and creepy, Absynth Nostromo is a drifting, enchanting and occasionally disturbing collection.

128 patches for NI Absynth.

If the music is too loud... well, you are too old.

Many of the best presets available come from this developer. Awesome work

Matt Bowdler definitely makes some of the best presets in the business. He's someone that really should be supported and I know that I say that a lot but in my opinion the guy earned our support. I'm really glad that you guys are enjoying this release, I myself like what HORiZON has been bringing to the game so big thanks to them. Have a nice week everyone.

And here I am reinstalling absynth after long time.
Terrific share, really. That synth have lot of potential,
I'm slapping myself in the face for having forgot it in a corner.
Thanks HORiZON & Catalyst, great one.

Absynth is one of those synths where I'm not crazy about the interface (it is old after all) but it's a really powerful synth and is good for a lot of different timbres. You're very welcome mate, hope it made your Monday more enjoyable.

Yeah maybe the gui is not as sexy as most modern synths, but still a good instrument.
I'm taking the occasion to reinstall FM8 (or FM7 if there's x64) too.
Those two NI are classics deserve to be tweaked some more
Sure it made my Monday better

Very good. I actually discounted it when I first messed around with it because as they say: looks can be deceiving. I was more in favor of FM8 (though different kind of synthesis) which I loved but I came back later and realized that it's a mighty fine synth. I wish they would finally update their product line. I would love to be able to change effect order in FM8 for example, Absynth and Massive could use some changes as well that would be welcome. Glad it did mate, mission accomplished.

I hear you CL, Absynth is truly great though, I don't use it as much as I should for the same reasons you mentioned (perhaps like minds think alike), it does LOOK long in the tooth, but has held it's own…. Ugly, and sometimes clumsy, but one could do a lot with just this one synth….. Big ups to HORiZON for breathing some new life into this one!
..grateful for HEXWARS, R2R, SYNTHiC4TE, CASHMERE & ALL teams, AZ crew past and present, and friends I have met here who I care for and have been nothing but amazing to me.

" powerful" Is an understatement. Did you know you can use 4 waves for every oscillator?

Very underrated Synth, I'm sure once you dive deeper into it you'll love it

Indeed. Each time i use something and make money, i buy the stuff in return. I've already bought 7 packs from Matt. Worth every penny. I could dive into his sounds for days. I don't use absynth much but i'll give it a try and maybe this breadcrumb will get me to actually buy absynth.
PS: btw...matt's packs are currently on sale at sampleism

They'd better bloody 'finish' it then before I download it! :)

Thanks a lot, Absynth is still a very useful synth!

Interesting why he chose that name:
The eternal question, that I am often asked. My previous careers have been littered with incomplete projects. I decided to call myself The Unfinished as a cruel reminder of this and to spur me on towards getting things done. So far, so good.

Thanks for the heads up Cat, don't know how i missed this one lol more great textures to play with, thank you.

As for the name, reminds me a lot of myself and I'm sure lots of other people here eh? but its all good, just more for the future to sort out ay

Never a problem, love his work. Yeah man the name I think strikes a chord with us all. Good to give something a name, looks like it helped him quite a bit.
