At first I didn't know what you meant but then I realized that dahool2010 was the guy that voted down the post. Apparently the fact that I uploaded something new and provided fast mirrors just wasn't good enough for him. J Kay voted down my Revelations Volume 4 Airbase post...the one everyone seemed to like a lot even SAiNT. I thought it was a great template and I was happy to bring it for the forums but they expected me to sing and dance too I guess.

how can i open the xps files ?

If you're on Windows Vista or later then there is a built-in XPS viewer. If not then just search for XPS viewer or you can alternatively send the file to your Gmail and then simply view the attachment. It should open it as a PDF which you can then save. I believe there is also an extension for Adobe Acrobat that will allow you to read it as well.

ok thank you i`ve found the problem , it`s with my NET Framework . Thank you for the answer.

There's also instructions in txt format so read those. They should explain everything. It's weird because they say you should load it in your DAW, didn't realize DAWs read XPS files.

I think I figured it out, Waves probably uses xps format. Make sure to read the instructions.

Universal Mastering Chains Instruction and Tips.
This template will fit any sequencer, it is very important that the order of the chain is respected!! You have to load the plugins in this specific order, they have been programmed for the program signal to flow into the chain.

1- REQ 6.xps
2- C1 Comp.xps
3- L3.xps
4- LinMB.xps
5- Center.xps
6- PuigChild.xps
7- SSLGChannel.xps
8- L316.xps
9- SSLComp.xps
10- L2.xps
11-Dorrough Loudness Meter (Optional)

Once the plugins are loaded in the sequencer load the plugins setting in the same order, in some sequencer you might need to load 8 plugins into the audio channel and the remaining plugins into the main or master out.

Can someone post instructions for the guys, I have a ton of work to do. I believe you just load the presets into each Wave plug-in in the proper order as is listed. Waves uses the xps preset system, I forgot. I've included instructions in my quote that deal with DAWs that use only 8 slots.

Ok, If your on Logic I made it real easy for you.. I saved a master channel strip (.cst file) with each .xps file loaded into the corresponding plug-ins. I also included the original text file which explains each plug-in In context to the Mastering Chain and gives you a brief over-view of what it does.
Download Link

--------To Install the channel strip .cst file----------
Place In:
Macintosh HD/User/"your username"/Library/Application Support/Logic/Channel Strip Settings/Output

how do I load it into fl studio? I mean fl has just 8 slots for plugins on each channel and there are 10 (+optional = 11) plugins.

Right, for those having trouble loading all 11 into FL studio, Click the first one and add it into
I got lazy and added shitty defaults just for the sake of this quick tutorial.

Hope that helps the FL studio users, I would however not do this, Mastering takes years and yes, you could use this on trance, but you always want that extra sound, and trust me you will change parts of it, you will tweak it and fuck it up.

It's up to you, i'm no expert, when i try and master, i use my ears and then get some feedback.

Yes, this is probably only good for trance, if you're not doing this style then don't use it.

Happy Producing.

too much talking then listening to exactly what they do, did not understand a thing besides 'not touching anything'.. good advise dude! Its a shame such a good category of music is presented to be produced with too much talking over example. worse then how rock producers explain Waves plugins...

My thought too. We master around 10-20 tracks per week for clients and I just clicked that video because the title "Mastering chain" made me dizzy already :P

So then I saw a so called "mastering engineer" who says don't touch anything, records his voice over way too hot and doesn't even really know what he's talking about.
Product well sold.

Anyway, I'm sure things like that can be helpful, if you master your own tracks, your processing might be more or less(!!) the same, though, I totally disagree with "don't touch anything" and also I disagree with using the whole chain on your buss, always.

Why? Well, what is mastering? In short: You're giving the last sparkle / enhancing to good parts and fixing not so good parts, for that you'll always need a different approach.
If I were to throw always the same mastering chain on the clients tracks, I wouldn't have any clients coming back lol.

While the idea behind it might be useful for people who can't afford an actual mastering engineer, the presentation of it was really..... shocking I'd even say.

Anyway, I appreciate the upload, just like any other upload here where time and effort was put into, I just think: Don't go preset-mastering.

Here are so many really good tutorials and books available, just have a look. You can make your own "mastering chains" then. If you master a full LP/EP (doesn't matter which genre) of the same artist/band/producer, you'll always have a nice setting to start from, but please... touch your faders, knobs, etc!
Every track will need a different process and who's to say if it does need all that processing anyway?! Maybe your / the clients mix sounds awesome already!?

Just my two cents. Take that idea from the guy in the youtube video and bring it to your own, professional, open minded, own level and don't stick to "presets" >.<

Love,
Vertigox

I agree with you but he said don't touch unless you know what you're doing. I don't think people should only use presets for mastering because then you don't really understand mastering but I think presets can be good for dissection of why those choices were made for that particular track. It can be an entry point to a difficult and confusing subject. Is it rigidly applicable to EVERY track, certainly not.

Well put sir, well put. In all fairness, I didn't watch the whole video, I simply couldn't. I think he should have said "Don't touch unless you know what you're doing OR you want to learn"

Because you can't understand the knobs and faders if you don't tweak them and hear what they do, you also have to make mistakes to realise what went wrong.

Anyway, I'll stop "ranting" now :) Well, lets say, I tried to give constructive critique rather than ranting around.

Have a lovely and creative day / night everyone!

Thank you very much for this great share. Before the Master chain I added the Ableton Utilty to adjust the Master output to about -18 in the Multimeter like in the video. After turning on the Master Chain it sounds fantastic to my amateur Remix. Now it sounds professionally mastered. Wow! I will do more music now.

Skip to 3:10 on the video. Now you will know exactly what this mastering chain will do for your track. Your welcome.. But In all seriousness, thanks for this Cat. I'm gonna take a look at some of the presets for sure.

Yeah, and he should have turn down his (loud) headphones before starting shooting the tutorial..

Prefered part : from 3'34 > end, feeling like you're on the dancefloor tryin' to have some fun with that fine petite brunette shaking her nice *ss furiously to the buildup AND somewhat in the background, some voice-off-yelling-over-music DJ is tryin' to give a mastering lesson to some bored music students at the opposite side in the heart of the crowded club. Pretty EPiC vision
