Arrr, Wendy Carlos' favorite (the original EMT 140 plate hardware that is). It was developed in 1957 by Dr. Walter Kuhl at the Institut fuer Rundfunktechnik, Hamburg, built by EMT-Franz. Pink Floyd used it for Dark Side of the Moon, rumor has it that Lee Perry & King Tubby liked it as well.

If I remember the discussion over at GS right the UAD plugin comes very close to the original hardware, but adds a touch more luster.

All the old EMT gear is interesting. Acousticas, before they went belly-up, used to offer two collections of EMT plate-IRs (EMT 245 & EMT 252). Which are nowhere to be found. If anybody has those......

For your info, inside the 'Kontakt 4' Factory Library and mainly within : Presets\ Effects\'Convolution', all the 'IRs' included within the folder :
'03 Real Plate Reverbs' are original 'Acousticas' IRs (licensed to Native Instruments). You can then use them if you want to get all these specific 'EMT Plate-IRs', and as follows :

* E245
* E250
* E252
* E252 D-REV
* E252 NON-LIN
