Thanks trae_hym and PIRAT. I still have the Akai s 1000. I should dig it up again.

Awesome,I like the demo. but will it sound the same with the IR loaded in another convolution plugin than NAM?

Hi. Don't use standard .wav , and .aif in traditional IR loaders, always choose .nam extension when you are in situation like this when you have multiple extensions, and .nam is available among them. NAM isn't impulse response, it's a dynamic profile of the captured hardware, that don't just capture frequency response, but also all other nonlinear behavior of hardware for that particular settings.

oh, ok, what plugin would you recommend for these nam files?
//edit// oh wow, is it that one:
https://github.com/sdatkinson/NeuralAmpModelerPlugin
so this is comparable to nebula?
I cant find anything about genome, what's that?

Yes. Neural Amp Modeler Plugin by Steven Atkinson is the original capturing project. You don't need Genome at present time ( it is not a free software ), you can use NAM Universal by WaveMind in situation when you need to process stereo track. Original Neural Amp Modeler is still mono plugin. On mono track, always use original NAM, or be shure that NAM Universal is set to mono to conserve CPUs utilization. Stereo will need double the power. Also be shure to disable guitar cab A & B impulse response section in NAM Universal (this is mandatory for recording and mixing equipment captures), and set Gate to minimum -100, so it doesn't truncate vary quiet part of the program material. Disabling Gate, EQ and Normalize is also good practice for original NAM . There is some volume discrepancy's between this two plugins. For some reason NAM Universal is much lower in volume that regular NAM. But when you use same profile input setings, and volume match outputs, they both sounds about the same. Driving Input knob is most important part of the plugin. Use Output to compensate for added volume. Give him time and learn it, it's a fabulous plugin. It will be even better once 96khz profiles of studio equipment staring to emerge.

Can someone with experience with this piece of gear tell me which is better between this and the Inphonik plug-in here? https://audioz.download/software/win/261005-download_inphonik-rx950-vst-vst3-au-aax-v113-mac-win-linux.html

RX950 is an algorithmic emulation of the Akai S950 sampler while this release is a captured Impulse Response (IR) recorded from an actual S950.
An algorithmic emulation may sound less "static" than an IR but it's depending on the quality of the developer's programming skills. An IR will sound almost exactly like the actual recorded device.

This is not an IR, this is a machine learning capture, which IS dynamic. They just included IRs as well for people who want to only use the EQ profile of the gear.
