The original nickel capsule version has those parallel to the body vents.

Those IR's are special. This can work very well on smoothing out annoying digital midrange on virtual instruments. The 1073 has more top end, and the V76 is darker, both useful. Thanks!

How can I use this? Do I use them in a VST to route to my DAW and will it work on a mid-ranged MIC?

The only prerequisite is a plugin that host impulse responses, which most DAWs come stock with, though most people I know use third-party plugins. And you don't have to use a mic at all as this just imparts the characteristics of the mic onto any audio material you run through it. I added a link to a video on IRs that may be helpful.

Some popular free IR Loaders are Voxengo's Boogex (with an overwhelming amount of knobs and functions because it's geared towards guitar cabs,) Ignite Amps' NadIR (also for cabs, but less feature-heavy,) Impulse Record Convology XT (used by the PtFR devs in their demos, and is more for reverb or non-cab IRs,) and, one that I use in mass instances, SignalDust's DustIR, because it's lite (and ugly and tiny since it's outdated ) which means you can put it at the top of every channel without murdering your CPU, like if you wanted a mic or a tape or a console IR as a channel topper.

Actually—I almost forgot—there's a new IR loader that just dropped, which I've begun using more often, the KlangFalter, which you can find here on AZ in the free section. I highly recommend that one for reverbs, but it would fully work for this IR as well.

Anyway, here's that link. The example used in the video is a reverb IR, but it's the same method for any impulse response:
