PastToFutureReverbs ATC SCM 25 Monitor Speaker IR’s! Impulse Responses (IRs) WAV AiFF screenshot
Impulse Responses (IRs) WAV AiFF | AudioZ Exclusive | 520.18 KB
Have you ever wondered how 10.000$ studio monitor speakers sound like?

If you have fairly flat sounding monitors, you can hear the ATC kind of frequency response with these IR’s on your monitors

But these IR's are not meant to replace an ATC. It is not possible if your monitors are not good enough!

We’ve also created true-stereo IR’s and also normal Stereo IR’s

96 & 44,1 kHz Wav files

Check out the demo:

This is getting out of hand. Like, there are so many variables, I can't even wrap my head around if this could even work right.

it's only difficult if you want to pretend it might possibly work
the real equation is (the issues of sound recreation with your monitors) + (the issues of sound recreation with the atm scm and their capture equipment) = double (or triple+) shittiness

yep, came here to make a similar comment. this just can't work. It works for cabs with mics for guitars but for monitoring, it's just silly

I agree. This is just getting silly.

this is beyond absurd, any speaker is gonna be more linear than any room. and loading this IR will tell you nothing useful about how the speaker sounds.

Finally! With the u87 impulses I make my sm58 sound like gold sputtered unicorn skin and with those monitor impulses I can make my car stereo a fully blown mastering studio where I can take 400 bucks an hour while being on the beach.
now i need pasttofurries 'supermodels of the 80ies and 90ies' impulses for my personal joy after all that hard work!
If someone could upload those, that would be great!

Hear the demo on the soundcloud! Nothing abnormal happening. Just a song being played with the ATC monitor frequency response on the source. If you want, you can download and test it on your own material. It wont degradate your audio ! Just will make it different. A monitor is a speaker like a guitar amp is a speaker. so i don't know why you can't understand that...

This is very good IR !! Now i can use this as automation the simulate the ATC frequency response on my sound design. Really good for automations. Much better than the monitor sim on the Plugin Lifeline Expanse. Thanks trae_hym, those hating are just noobs that can't read this is NOT MEANT FOR MONITORING. This can't replace an ATC ! Is just convolution that can be used creatively, like a cab sim

I am really hoping they will record an IR for Burl Audio's B2 Bomber ADC because my Hdiwousp ADC I picked up from Amazon for $17 just isn't cutting it [sic].

In fairness to P2FR, they do indicate that you need a flat system to make use of these IRs (and I would clarify that you would need perfectly flat.) However, one wonders if they recorded these speakers in anechoic chamber or not and what mic they used—like others have said, way too many variables.

Can only see the use of these on a creative sound design level or with calibrated cans + crosstalk plugin but even then.. the frequency response of the mic used for the capture and the room sound, too many unknown variables

Guys this is not meant for monitoring, use it as a re amping tool. Could work on some acoustic recordings and yield interesting results

Yeah, it seems like reamping is not a common pratice among some people here on this forum. A lot of plugin companies does the same stuff this IR does, like McDSP FutzBox (with a lot of weird and funny stuff) or Lifeline Expanse with... Studio Monitor reamping. I can think a thousand ways to use this IR and none of them have to be with 'replacing my monitors with ATC's'

There are some people above who don't know how to use the IR file and are getting into it with boring mangled comments that don't seem to have a sense of humor, but this IR file is to be used as an emulation of the ReAmp technique, as Zenvo says.

As you can see from the speaker selection option in Waves Abbey Road Chambers, the technique of re-recording the sound coming out of the monitor speakers with a microphone is an ancient one originally used in the recording arts.

Measurements of this ATC SCM 25's IR file show that it has a unique characteristic in the wide mid-range that works to tighten the sound quality of the input source. This can be counterproductive when a warmer sound is wanted, but it can be useful when one wants to tighten up the sound.

For example, if you have an upright bass that sounds too sweet, you may be able to get a little bit tight sound by passing it through this IR.

Also if you have an old-school breakbeat drum sample that is a little too hot, this IR might tighten up it. From there, it can be fine-tuned again with the EQ and Compressor.

Incidentally, post-loudness war beats-making frequently requires this process (resetting overly fat and compressed drum sounds to their natural state).

It is extremely difficult to get this effect from the EQ instead of the IR.

how do you measure the IR of a speaker?

With a mic? Common practice for guitar cabs - as you probably know. ;-)

if they capture some toy speakers... they will have me.... I love to put speakers ir in ad-libs, that's why I love McDsp Futzbox that much, Even for percussion loops that kind of thing is magic. (Sometimes you don't need eq after) I haven't tried anything from this company yet.
but, for percussion loops with gate, guitar Ir's is sooo Oh la la
