Roland SC-55 Map for ZENOLOGY screenshot
Map for ZENOLOGY | 15.11 KB
Here is something i made during times of no personal happenings. In essence, this is a recreation of the SC-55 sound map for Roland Cloud ZENOLOGY.

Please note that this is in no way a 1:1 recreation, moreover one should see this as an "updated" version of the original sounds.

To use the sounds, drag & drop the bin & svz file in :

C>Users>Your computer's name>AppData>local>RolandCloud>ZENOLOGY

For Mac users:

/Library/Application Support/Roland/ZENOLOGY

Once done, open ZENOLOGY, click on write and choose either the bin or the svz.

Thank you @Skull, particularly useful for general midi files!

It reminds me that good old - noizy! - MT32... Do you know if there's a map or bank to emulate as closely as possible this old little beast?

I dunno much about the map system in Zenology - in fact I don't understand clearly how it works - but perhaps could it be possible to edit / create new maps ourselves? Is it complicated?
I'm alive!!! :D Isn't it astounding??? ;)

Maybe this free VSTi is helpfull (32 and 64 bit): Munt MT-32 emulator VSTi 2.8
You can also DL the ROMs from there if you do not have the proper files.
Or may you use the MT32 like samples in SoundFont 2 format from there, or (not MT32 specific, but GS) from there, if you have a player / sampler for it (TAL-Sampler can import SF2. Also Halion 6 and NI Kontakt can, but Kontakt up to V5 only - may you use a portable version of it for Windows, beside a newer version).

Oh. Some time ago, there was also a R2R release of the Sound Canvas VA from Roland.

Woooow... Thank you so much @7thHaven!
Munt is a great idea, easy to install and to handle

Thank you very much also for the soundfonts, I do have Halion 6, first time I try to load a SF in it, didn't know it could handle these files!

And I just found Sound Canvas VA v1.1.6 by R2R, it sounds more "modern" than the original MT-32, tho it sounds great with the old GM orchestral midi files I kept since long, longtime...

Very nice, a LOAD of thanks to you sir!

Glad to see you were able to take something out of it and use it - you're welcome!

Thanks for sharing!
For me it was not necessary to import it. I copied the two files into said folder (into a subfolder named "SC-55") and then loaded the ZENOLOGY plugin. After that it was available in the preset browser as "Sound Canvas SC-55" entry.

What is the purpose of this ZENOLOGY "Map"? The description is excessively vague.

I would also be glad about an explanation, 7thHaven.

Please ask the one who made it, or the one who has found it particularly useful.
