"Don't You Want Me" is a single by British synthpop group Human League, released from their album: Dare on 27 November 1981. It is the band's best known and most commercially successful recording to date, and was the Christmas number one in the UK, in 1981, where it sold over 1,400,000 copies, making it the 25th most successful single in UK Singles Chart history. It later topped the Billboard Hot 100 in the US on July 3, 1982 where it stayed for three weeks.

The title is frequently misprinted by the media and by covering artists; the correct song title is "Don't You Want Me"; not "Don't You Want Me Baby", which is the chorus.

This was a ground-breaking track upon it's initial release, and is still important today given the current resurgence of Synthpop. Consider it to be a blueprint for the genre.

But that quote is from their song "Empire State Human"

Correct but that is my favourite lines from when I liked them the most and it's what I thought, this track makes me think of Martin Rushent who was my favourite producer from that time, I was a big stranglers fan before he worked on this album, so I was more interested in that side of this album than the actual songs

Martin Rushent was God-like in his production role.

If you ever get to hear the demo version of this song, you'll soon realize why.

I realize this is a very old post, but it would be truly awesome to be able to analyze this legendary track up close. Does anyone have this (or anything similar)? I haven't been able to find it anywhere. Thanks!
