The organ of the monastery church of Riddagshausen near Braunschweig was built in 1979 by the renowned organ workshop of Alfred Führer in the neo-baroque style. It is designed very similar to the first organ of the church, built around 1619 by Heinrich Compenius the younger. Like the Compenius organ the new instrument comprises 31 stops on three manuals and pedal and fills the large church room with its beautiful sound. The disposition and the pipe scaling are closely following the original instrument. With its warm fundamentals and expressive reeds it is per­fectly suited for a wide repertoire, even romantic and contemporary music.

what version of hauptwerk engine does this need?

EDIT- Just checked - it needs v4.2 (i have 4, so no use here!)

Both the Hauptwerk and Pipeloops sites say it requires Hauptwerk 3.30+. Did I miss something? The demos sound very good, as most of the Hauptwerk organs do.

I tried it in v4.0 ... no luck. It says v4.2 needed. Now, maybe I'm doing something wrong, but this is the case with a lot of the hauptwerk libs. I've seen v4.2 for mac here, but not for win. :( Pity - and ur right, sounds very good.

which player is required to load these organ libraries ?

i remember downloading a huge 30-60 GB organ, one year or so ago, and ending up not knowing what to do with it.

also, sound wise, are these any good ?

The Hauptwerk web stie says "Hauptwerk 3.30+ (compatible with Free, Basic, and Advanced Editions of Hauptwerk)".
The Pipeloops site (the creators) says
"This sample set requires a powerful Windows-PC or Apple Mac-OS computer with 64-bit operating system and the Hauptwerk™ software (*) Advanced Edition (version 3.3 or higher). For best results a powerful CPU (e.g. a modern quadcore CPU) and sufficient main memory (RAM) are essential."

As far as sound quality, it really doesn't get any better than Hauptwerk. They sample all the stops and let you control them, typically multi-mic samples, and usually great church or performance hall acoustics. They usually also sample the mechanical noises, motor and air sounds (which you control) , and room ambiance. Many churches replace their physical organs with fancy Hauptwerk installations. Check their site for good info and demos, pictures of installations, etc.

They have a free player and organ to try, and full versions and other organs are available around...

Hauptwerk posts are always amazing.

Once in my young life, I wanted to feel the Tico-tico in a church in Germany, the priest downstairs was praying, he stopped the prayer, went upstairs, just to say that it was blasphemy, never do it again. That was my moment in honor to Klaus Wunderlich.

Any percussive instruments, drums and static tubes without bender like the giant flutes of the organ are "techically" the easiest to samples and sound the most perfect ones in the history of samples.
