Proteus VX(you can only load and use presets, no editing available) or Emulator X(work with E-MU soundcard where you can edit sounds just like with hardware sound module, but just for hearing presets should be working without a dedicated soundcard, because emulator x is just biger brother of proteus vx). But remember what i write here is not necessary true as i'm just getting to know E-MU stuff lately.

Without an E-MU interface you can use Proteus VX (free, rompler) or Emulator X3 (sampler). All other versions are card-locked.

I'm just not sure if Proteus VX can load this one (it it's an untouched image).

Anyone have any tips on how a Windows user might be able to read the BIN/CUE images inside, or how to read the (presumably) Macintosh discs that those images burn? Any help would be appreciated.

These are Windows images actually (derived from CDRWin). Virtual CloneDrive can mount them.

DT will not open these bin/cue on my windows 8 machine

and apparently they need to be converted to iso for mac??

CDxtract 4.1 can open this image- You can convert sounds in a sf2 format or other for use in applications * Samplelord etc.
