VSL Horizon Series Chamber Strings DVDR 01-04 GiGA-AI screenshot
Team AI | 10-24-2004 | 9.73 GB
This harmonious ensemble of 15 strings (6 violins, 4 violas, 3 cellos and 2 double basses) covers nearly the entire spectrum of string chamber literature. Many composers use the CHAMBER STRINGS for larger orchestrations as well, doubling melody lines to enhance the string sound with more variety and expression. CHAMBER STRINGS I contains all imaginable articulations, including snap pizzicatos, glissandos and artificial harmonics. CHAMBER STRINGS II offers most of the articulations of CHAMBER STRINGS I as muted versions (con sordino).

I appreciate every upload, I really do, but people need to know what they're downloading, especially those with low bandwith and/or without premium service. Really guys, this is a VERY dated package, back from the time when Gigastudio ruled (about 15 years ago.) These are NOT the chamber strings VSL offers today (as on the image on top.) Those are protected by the Vienna key and there's no way to pirate them.

There are much better chamber strings packages to download, and some are even smaller than 10 gb, like Kirk Hunter's Spotlight Strings (about 4.5 gb.) Pretty amazing for their relatively small size. Or, if you are ready for a hard-core download and have room on your HD (100+ gigs), you could consider Spitfire's amazing Sable Strings, which is pretty much the state of the art today.

These old VSL strings don't even have real legato (let alone various types of it), no round robin, and none of the sophistication you've come to expect from a modern string library.

Thanks PIRAT, I love to collect this one.
IMHO, There's no orchestra library that perfect, and vice versa,.. every library had its own goods even in the very old and outdated library like Miroslave orchestra library, Peter's Advanced Orchestra... that ran on AKAI S series in the past, I myself, still using them, it's good to blend them with new lib like spitfire sable. It will more usable If you can learn how to edit Kontakt instrument and know some programming script. Trust me, You can resurrect all those old library to new life. It is not depend on how big is it in sample size. The newer orchestra library sometime lost something that you may get from these old libs. You can blend them nicely together to get more organic body since most of them sampled in close miking position.

Thanks again PIRAT.

There's no way to add true legato and round robin to old libraries. You'd need brand-new samples. Scripted legato is simply not up to snuff, not by contemporary standards. Incidentally, I know Kontakt VERY well, down to pretty sophisticated scripting (I create my own libraries), so I definitely know what I'm talking about.

True legato ? what's that mean. only way to get true legato is hire the real player and real orchestra. sometime write a good piece is more than just a quality sample library itself, it also need skills of the user too.

sisko, if you don't like it. this is not for you. just skip it. i also know VERY VERY VERY well with Kontakt since it was born. And I know VERY VERY VERY well to real orchestrate too. This vienna library is still Ok if you know when or how to use it. And I always know PIRAT never post stupid stuff. he post this for someone that looking for the additional palettes like me.

Thanks again PIRAT.

"True legato ? what's that mean"

LOL LOL LOL. The simple fact that you've never even heard the words "true legato" is solid proof that you don't know anything about string sampling... I bet you don't know what round robin is either.

So much for you being a real "expert"...

Oh, and BTW, it's pretty obvious that prohman is an alias of PIRAT...
