i don't make dub-step but the point is you don't know anyone & that would include yourself that can hear the difference between 16 & 24 bit - few people understand basic signal theory or the sampling theorem, anything beyond follows the law of audio artifacts that in theory more is more well it's not 16 is touching the ceiling of what is physical possible to hear to which the idea of distributing music in 24-bit/192kHz is more than a bad idea first of all It's playback fidelity is slightly inferior to 16/44.1 or 16/48, and it takes up 6 times the space 2nd it's beyond the range of human hearing anyway as explained 24/192 is a solution to a problem that doesn't exist a business model based on willful ignorance marketing and pseudoscience digital anti-aliasing and decimation steps (resampling to a lower rate for CDs or DAT) that happen in the final stages of mastering and earlier recording of high sampling rates using only analog filters plus the fact that ADCs and DACs didn't always transparently oversample is now the accepted reason for the adoption and use of 96kHz and 192kHz became associated with professional music production

It's true that 16 bit linear PCM audio does not quite cover the entire theoretical dynamic range of the human ear in ideal conditions. Also, there are (and always will be) reasons to use more than 16 bits in recording and production.

None of that is relevant to playback; here 24 bit audio is as useless as 192kHz sampling. The good news is that at least 24 bit depth doesn't harm fidelity. It just doesn't help, and also wastes space.

There is a perceptible difference between 24bit and 16bit, the only reason we still use 16bit is it's the standard for CD. No one in the professional realm records at 16bit. It's not dissimilar to adding sound above 18K into a mix, even though the human ear can't hear that high it makes a perceptual difference when it's there.

But I guess the point is, if you are using samples and loops then you don't need over 16bit anyway I agree. It's not like anyone is going to have a hit song in the charts using samples and loops they didn't create themselves, but that's a different debate all together.

no there is not ... (none) proven many times over by professional audio engineers (like myself) & scientists alike -

There is no perceptible difference between 24bit and 16bit you have no idea who you are arguing this point with if you con't you will lose i promise
