From vinyl textures to ancient drum machines, I’m always on the lookout for ways to add something unique to my projects. And lately there’s been no doubt in my mind that the new wave of retro sound is all about vintage analog devices.
THE REAL DEAL...
The sounds produced by a vintage MPC are intricate. From the distorted texture to its age-old circuitry, there’s just nothing quite like it.
Trying to replicate its sound with computer presets might get you close. But there’s just no substitute for the real thing. The only problem is… Learning how to use a classic MPC can take a LOT of time, not to mention the patience it takes to create drums on it.
HOW IT WAS MADE...
Over the years, I took on the task of individually designing drums on my old MPC1000 - layering kicks, snares, and hats from hundreds of vinyl records. I built them up as fat as possible with the help of my knowledge and analog gear (Shure M44-7, Technics SL-1200, Vestax PMC-05) so you can skip the labor of doing this yourself.
CUSTOMIZE ENDLESSLY...
Thanks to its easy to use loop library, MPC DRUMS allows you to create your own heavy analog drum patterns in just a couple of clicks. Each kick, snare, and hat loop were designed to fit together and offer a total of 8000 unique combinations when grouped together.
You can also choose between clean or dirty drum character - The clean drums were recorded directly out of the MPC with no additional effects. The dirty drums have additional layers of processing and were designed to hit insanely hard.
You can browse the pre-organized folders and choose the sound or drum loop that you want to use. All loops are labeled by BPM and are ready to drag into your DAW. As simple as that!

All samples are formatted to stereo WAV 24-bit 44.1kHz. They are fully compatible with any DAW and hardware sampler. After ordering, you'll immediately receive a link in your email to download the kit.
*Legacy MPCs (2500, 5000, 1000, 500, 4000, 2000XL, etc) can only read 16-bit wav files. A 16-bit version of the kit is included in the zip file for legacy MPC users.
