I agree, the demos are not really convincing.

Sorry folks, can't agree with you's on sample modeling. I can't see any halfway realistic sounding vst. The main problem with modeling a Sax seems to be the lack of attack. My favourites at the moment are Fable Broadway and Chris Heins. Fable sounds more realistic, but Chris Heins is a bit more playable. Still waiting for the perfect Sax though.

Granted that a sampled instrument is still no match for a skilled player, the level of expression Samplemodeling instruments are capable of is unmatched. Of course you'd need to understand how these instruments work and if you don't use them with a breath controller, you're missing most of their capabilities. Broadway and Chris Hein have no specific implementation for a BC, meaning that it only controls volume.

This is probably a case of quantity over quality. I'd prefer a much smaller library with less microphone positions and concentrate on basic better quality sound.

quote by siskoEvery Samplemodeling product is either horns or woodwinds/saxes. They're all superb and at the very top of their game.

Samplemodeling products

Sisko, do use a voice controller with this? Is a voice controller necessary to get a realistic sound? I have asthma, and can't use a voice controller.

You mean a breath controller. Yes, it's HIGHLY recommended for best results, but you can also use a foot controller (not a footswitch, I mean the keyboard pedal that controls MIDI volume) and with some practice you can still achieve awesome results. All Samplemodeling products need a continuous controller in order to work, I mean besides the modulation wheel, which controls vibrato.

Yes, breath controller. Sorry. I have a foot controller for my midi keyboard, so I'll give that a shot when time permits. Thank you.

Yes i agree with you, this youtube demo is very good. I suppose it depends on which style of playing you want. I was working on a very slow smooth Tenor solo last year, which i had originally recorded with a 5mb!!! Soundfont. Getting a sound that was realistic was not so easy. In the end, it was a contest between Chris Heins and Fable. Everything else that i tried, (including Samplemodeling) whether VST, or Sample, with or without breath controller, sounded synthetic for me. The lower notes are not so difficult, but as soon as you get into the mid and high range (Listen to the "Nature Boy" demo on the Samplemodeling site) things become interesting. I'm not saying Chris Heins and Fable are that much better, it's probably this "one style" or perhaps "this one solo" where they work for me.

Hello, im having troubles installing it, it installs on my kontakt 5.3.1 Mac osx 10.9.1 but it doesnt appear on the libraries tab. And when i try to add it again it says: "Session Horns Pro already exists within the KOntakt Libraries tab." but it doesnt :(

Hi guys, I can't seem to extract the .nki. How do you do that? I've managed to extract the .pkg with winrar.... But I can't extract the .nki from the pkg. Winrar asks me what program to open it with and 7zip tells me that it can't be opened as an archive.

I've already been looking for a solution in the forum audiosex but those tips won't help either.

Can anyone help me, please? I have win8 on this laptop and Win7 on my computer I work with.

Oh that sucks. Ask if he can do it for you, he may not be able to reupload because that may endanger his account but you can try.
