By the way, people who were buying records in the 60s and 70s hated the vinyl crackles, they were after sonic perfection just like now, so don't be fooled by this false love of vinyl crackles, people who were there in the 60s and 70s absolutely hated it and it does not represent the era well! Adding crackles to an era that was trying get rid of them is not honoring that era, it is an insult to that era.

Yes but I believe the move to add them back in is about nostalgia more than anything else. It was a time when music was more intimate and I think that's what people connect with not the sound quality. A way to recapture that feeling in the contemporary sterile digital world.

Catalyst is exactly right, it's nostalgia, reminiscent of the time. Imagine if old black and white slient movies from the 1920's were remastered with color and sound added, all in perfect 1080p HD. It wouldn't be relevant to the time that the film was made, it would seem weird. I guess they could have left out the crackles and we could have added our own... but then the initial feeling would have been lost and we'd be saying it didn't sound authentic enough.

Like any other library that is royalty free, they recorded their own loops, and the EULA allows the end user to use them how they want, they are not samples off other people's records, rather content they created and recorded themselves.
