SampleTekk Black v.1.2 KONTAKT-MAGNETRiXX screenshot SampleTekk Black v.1.2 KONTAKT | 1.24 GB TEAM MAGNETRiXX 03 August 2013
Based on the famous SampleTekk Black Grand, but with refined samples, and the use of SampleTekk's True Resonance Samples in combination with Native Instruments Kontakt Engine, we built a Grand Piano that we feel is our best piano yet!

This instrument shines! With up to 14 velocity layers, Sympathetic Resonance, built in reverb with custom impulses from famous gold plates, digital units, rooms and large springs, it gives you the range that you would expect from a Steinway D Hamburg. From soft spoken pianissimo, to roaring, blistering fortes, the BLACK delivers.

Kontakt Player engine, supporting standalone operation as well as plug-in operation in all major hosts that support AudioUnit, VST, or RTAS plug-ins

-Steinway D Hamburg Concert Grand
-Three Pedal support, Sostenutu, Una Corda, Sustain
-Realtime pedalling
-Half Pedalling
-Sympathetic Resonance
-Up to 14 velocity layers
-True Resonance
-Reverb, EQ
-Adjustable velocity curves
-Intellisave system
-Adjustable Resonance
-Adjustable pedal/hammer noise

Thanks a lot for sharing this, Sunny! wink
Black has been always the best Kontakt piano to me, and this new version looks a lot better! So, let's see if the propaganda says the truth keys .

I don't understand why sampletekk over-compressed the higher velocities on this piano...its very noticeable

This one does not blow your head off but it's decent if it's about memory usage. At least good piano for a band where detail is not so important but you want to save on memory. Where you want a big detail it's better to use Fazioli or Emotional Piano anyway.

gabrieljay,

I checked the effects chain and the samples and they do not seem compressed.

littletown87,
hmmm..They sound as if they were processed while being sampled. I checked the effect chain also. There is a noticeable difference when a key is immediately played medium to soft after being played hard. I can upload a file to show what I'm talking about. I guess it's not that big of a problem..but it does make it sound un-natural.

I can see what you're pointing out however could not this be an effect of microphone selection (the perspective here seems to focus in a supercloser sound) and also of the mapping of the velocity layers recorded?
I can see 14 layers:
1 vel 1-10
2 vel 11-20
3 vel 21-30
4 vel 31-40
5 vel 41-50
6 vel 51-60

This layers in my opinion covers the mid dynamic range (p or mp) but they do not go from ppp to mp or f therefore the dynamics range is very restricted.

7 61-70
8 71-80
9 81-90
10 91-100
11 101-110
12 111-120
13 121-125
14 125-127

More aggressive layers f to fff.
To me the problem is not related to compression but in the super restricted dynamic range that makes unnoticeable the first or second range (they blend quite well because there is few variation of dynamics if they belong to the same group) but it is stunnigly clear when you play in the intermediate zone from 1-6 to 7-14 making the jump more evident.

It seems I was wrong. Checking the script I noticed the sensitivity knob which controls a velocity/volume envelope. Higher knob values have a much significant difference in dynamics volume which on the contrary gets squashed if you turned it down. Lol, it was right under my eyes and I couldn't see it. rofl
