KONTAKT - 6,46 GB
A one-of-a-kind 9' Steinway Concert D Grand

Available for Kontakt Player and Full versions

Recorded with insane detail (of course)

Concert "D"
At 9', the Steinway D is considered by many the pinnacle of pianos.
The instrument we sampled is equipped with a custom system for re-performance, developed by Zenph. That's how we recorded our samples so precisely!

All Pedal Combinations
We captured all of the possible variations one can play between the sustain, una corda pedals, and sans pedal.
The samples are beautifully even because of the 're-performance' technology that this piano is equipped with!

Make it Your Own
You can easily bend this piano to your musical will! Our intuitive controls allow you to move easily between jazz/classical/cinematic/pop and beyond.
Beyond that, you'll find a whole page of simple ways to alter the tone and feel of this majestic Steinway.

havent tested either in daw but from the demos East West Pianos Platinum Steinway D sounded like the best to me out of all demos ive heard. this one sounds a bit muddy. but again havent actually tested the lib.

I thought this was an update to the big version when I saw it before!
So this is the light version with only 12 velocity levels instead of thirty whatever it is.
You only get the default library.
The beautiful resonance samples for the pedal down position are also not present.
Even with these things missing, it's still better than a lot of the piano libraries out there.
The big version I keep on a separate HD due to having 3 of the libraries and them talking up 30gb each or thereabouts.
This I've installed directly on my system so I have it available for writing and such without having to connect the HD.
I miss that swirly resonance when I play this light version but honestly, the 30 odd levels of velocity makes little difference to my ears.
Oh also, people saying it's a bit muddy?
Like, huh?

From the demo, it sounds like a Piano Radiohead would use (when not using a mellow upright, of course!). Sounds amazing! Big, but defined and not muddy at all! Nice stereo image/spacing without actually making the higher and lower octaves "overpanned" like many other libraries do.

Nice one!! Thank you, Talula!!

Thanks Talula !
Yes, definitely, a little bit muddy, but for the size, it's a good entry-level option (a more compact one), which pleases me a lot because, after Pianoteq, I don’t see why investing in piano libraries that exceed 10GB.

Having 12 samples per note is already impressive.

However, any sound sound engineer knows the importance of microphone positioning, otherwise everything you record ends up sounding like those poor 'Roland arranger keyboards'.

However, I foresee the potential for future advancements in 'Mic plugins', (like Decca Mic Positioning), that offer more effective and natural sound manipulation that can reduce these gigantic packages.

While staccatos results are simple tasks on any samples, it's essential to accurately reproduce legatos that rise and fall with varying samples (round robin), such capability is crucial, especially since we frequently encounter ornaments, trills, and simple neighboring notes that are present in 99.99% of music, being one of the most banal and important elements of musical composition that generate movement in the melody to avoid boring.
