Musical Sampling Parker Oboe KONTAKT screenshotKONTAKT - 4,1 GB
Parker Oboe is a true legato oboe library performed by Dr. Andrew Parker, Associate Professor of Oboe at the University of Texas.

Recorded at Orb Studios in Austin, Texas, our goal was to create a responsive, agile instrument that could handle a variety of exciting orchestral contexts without any keyswitching.

The Workhorse patch is the all-rounder; performed with a confident mezzo-forte dynamic. Fat Lead is Andrew playing the oboe at full chat β€” great when you need bite, attitude and soaring melodies. Emotional offers a lyrical performance at mezzo-piano while Delicate explores the very soft, ethereal side of the instrument.

We’ve also captured a variety of inhale breaths with subsequent β€œpre-attack” air/tonguing noises β€” really helps sell the performance when peppered in before/in-between phrases.

I had a musical composition class with one of the greatest oboists in the world, the Swiss-German "Heinz Holliger", who is still alive at 85 years old and preferred to live in France.

I have listened to his entire discography for oboe several times, got it in a russian Dl, and I never tire of listening to it. The sound he manages to extract from the oboe is perfect, the timbre, the continuous breath, the legato, the ornaments and the pianissimos are very light, almost impossible to achieve on this instrument. I have tried several virtual oboes to bring me something close to the reality of 'Heinz Holliger', but I have never succeeded.

Who knows, maybe this one will.

It won't. Your best option is the one from Acousticsamples.

it still somehow sounds a bit synthetic, just like an auto-tuned voice or instrument. Especially the non-vibrato sustain articulation.
The same problem tends to happen with clarinet libraries.

Thx! Good to hear it from you.
My reference was that I liked their "Musical Sampling Atelier Series Orb Trumpets", that sounds natural and is perfect for Baroque music, since no one can sample a true Baroque trumpet perfectly (Trombeta Barroca).

Experienced musicians use the 'C trumpet' to get closer to the sound that Bach used, as the 'Bb trumpet' is not suitable.

Now, I'll try the Acousticsamples oboe suggested by bugzawy.

To be fair, I have made my opinion based on the demo videos. I haven't tried the library.
But oboe and clarinet playing non-vib sustain notes always give me headache when it's an over-polished flat sound.
