I tried the minified version about 2 or 3 years ago and didn't like the sound, so I never used the library.
Recently, I heard a demo using it and it sounded pretty good so I decided to get the full version.

It can deliver a very good sound for small strings sections needs, and the Close 2 microphone (first chair) even allow to get a nice "chamber" sound when carefully mixed with Close 1 and Tree. I love the sound we can get by combining these 3 mics.

So I decided to make this lite version, it took time, a lot of time...

Based on Spitfire Studio Strings Professional 1.0 (196 GB)

- All samples converted from 24 to 16 bits (with dither) except some legato samples for violins 1 (16) and violins 2 **
- All articulations from original libs are present, removed economic and CPU friendly patches as after conversion they may be useless
- Close 1, Close 2 and Tree 1 microphones only (removed Tree 2, Ambient and Out mics, and the 2 stereo mix as well) still allowing flexible mixes.
- 37 GB size on disk

** NOTE : after 16 bits conversion, some crackling occured with legato Violins 1 (16) and several Violins 2 patches.
Curiously, samples play well manually. In fact, it might be a programming issue as the workaround is to disable the "fp hall trigger" setting on the patch properties.

The issue affected previously released minified version as well.

I decided to keep 24 bits samples for these instruments, allowing full functionality at the cost of an increased size by 2-3 GB.
Nevertheless, the 37 GB size is a lot lighter than the original library, offering a 81% size reduction while preserving a full featured library.

I hope you will appreciate the effort, this reduction took a lot of hours of hard work.

A (lot more) minified version had previously been released here, maybe you can still find it somewhere.
The playability, good and full sounding and all the patches if possible are my priority.

Most of the time close mic is not enough to me, whatever the reverb or effect you use, you can never achieve a full sound like the original, what's the point to have a very small but bad sounding library ?

I don't minify libraries for pleasure, I really use them in my music, so I aim to have a decent sound.

For this library, 37 GB instead of 196 GB is a big reduction, I am usually around 65% reduction, 81% for this one.
Samples are packed by instruments / articulations and microphones, you can easily adapt it to your need

Great!! it works flawlessly and in a usual use is quick and better. The only artic. i miss is the legato with portamento, iยดm a junkie with this articulation...XD

The portamento legato exists only in legato performance patch (advanced / legato).
It is available only on Violins 1 (8), violins 2 (6), violas (6), celli (6) basses (4), not on the larger section which, according to what I read, is not recorded as is, but is built from small sections samples.

Yes, I tried yet and is only on Basses, i have noidea why only, but in the others, iยดve load all individually in advance perf and thereยดs no portamento, only legato (there are two squares, one for, each)

Portamento is available on the patches I mentionned above, but remember you have to play the second note at very low velocity to trigger it.
Not very natural when playing, I prefer the way of Orchestral tools which trigger the portamento with very high velocity.

Aha!! iยดm idiot..i loaded randomly to see...and thatยดs the reason that i only see it in basses, because i loaded the (4) the only one that basses exist in legato techique...XD

Now i loaded exact the ones you told me, sorry...XD.

Sound pretty, i like the soft port. art. in others, even the SF Chamber but in general i prefer OT high vel, like you, or others with slow vel, is more controllable and clever than SF (i remember Tokyo S.S, MSS, LASS 3 and others, specially with the poly legato wich are my preference if is available)

Anyway that Pro SF sond very, very, good.

YodaDL, my dear uploader, what to say about another unbeatable quality release: Close 1 and Tree are absolutely incredible. Nice move to keep 24-bit samples for these instruments, 'cos they actually sound better that way (in addition to avoiding problems with certain regions). Another amazing goal: You can delete instruments and samples that you individually don't need! It doesn't get any better than that. Instead of taking away the user's power of choice, you ensure this possibility (another gift that only a sample Jedi master would provide)! In terms of gratitude, everything we say becomes irrelevant. Even so, thanks a million as you have made absolutely unique contributions to the community. I notice considerable hiss on some articulations such as flautando,sul tasto, etc. You can listen to it even after the note has ended Is this present on the original release, or a consequence of the dither?
