Choir Library | AudioZ Exclusive | 27.9GB
“Dominus” is the latin word that stands for “Lord”. From the contraction of the female “Domina” comes “Donna”, the modern italian word for “Woman”. The same word is attested in old English Law for noble ladies who held a barony in their own right. On the other hand, “Dominoes” is the popular game, born in China, famous for its numbered tiles. Focusing on the ideas of making something both gamish and funny as well as something that is built on traditional church chants and prayers, we created Dominus Choir.

When Fluffyaudio’s adventure began and our first sample library was released, we were already dreaming of how it would have been to sample a vocal ensemble. Five years have passed since My Piano, our first domino tile. Thanks to our collaborators and friends and, moreover, our loyal supporters and fierce critics, we have gained great experience. More than as our second dominoes tile, we like to think of all those people as the vital sap, the pushing energy that helped our dominoes to keep on flowing even when it was going to stop.

When we thought to sample a choir, we had no doubt of who we wanted to conduct it. Mario Lanaro – with whom we had the pleasure of coming across during our years of study at Verona University – had all the qualities we were looking for. With more than just a solid and professional classical training, he is a renowned Choir Conductor, a great Organist, and a Composer of increasing fame. He has the right balance between leadership, authority, shine and sympathy, and the sought-after ability to put people he works with in the right mood to do their best. From one side, we wanted the mechanism to run smooth; on the other, we didn’t want to lose the freshness of the news that makes people more careful and responsive. We achieved this by choosing two choirs that had a long story of previous special commitments with Mario Lanaro – so that they already knew well each other – but that are normally held from different conductors.

Again, we wanted the right location to sample this very special instrument: something that could have been a church, a concert hall and a recording studio at the same time, without being any one of these places. This is why we chose to sample Dominus Choir at Crema, in the wonderful Sala Giardino. Its the very same place we had the pleasure to discover and to appreciate in our “Rinascimento sessions”. We started on the eleventh of July with the Female Vocal Ensemble “La Rose”. Usually conducted by Mrs. Jose Borgo, the girls came sparkling and twinkling in the morning. After an astonishing session, we were almost more confused than pleased. How could the men do such a wonderful work and how would they have sounded compared to those wondrous voices? But we were even more amazed when, after the first day with the male choir – and especially after a rich dinner, without saving wine – they kept on singing perfectly in tune and with the right mood and energy, almost resembling the natural “hellish” prosecution in the low of those angelic voices. It is amazing to notice how differently the same two things could be obtained starting for different perspectives. Just as an example, the girls were almost always waving their hands in their hair, as if they were painting or pulling magical wires, feeling somehow helped in their emission from their gestures. On the contrary, the men of the Vocal Ensemble “Novecento”, usually conducted by Mr. Maurizio Sacquegna, stood like the columns of an ancient Roman church.

One of the things we were more unsure about – even if in our preliminary meetings the Conductors reassured us – was the endurance of the singers. We thought that a voice would tire much more easily and much more quickly than any other instrument. We planned short sessions of recording with many breaks, but luckily, for once, we were wrong. Both “La Rose” and “Novecento” ensemble gave us some very intense feelings of amazement, singing not only during the session, but even just for fun after every lunch and dinner. And since we find that the human voice is one of the most moving instruments, all our meals almost ended up in tears!

Look at it. Download it. Hear it. No word builder. Dump it. Thank heavens for Audioz and fibre

This is exactly why I don't buy libraries without a demo anymore. You listen to some cool soundcloud demos, you throw down a couple hundred, and then you realize you have no use for it

There are two types of choir libraries out there, the extremely flexible libraries with phrase builders, of which there arent many. Insolidus, silka, EastWest I believe all have the ability to type a phrase in and have the words you type sung back. Other libraries such as this one are limited to a subset of phrases, I believe this one is 35 phrases.

What makes this library unique from any other is the simple fact that legato is the most realistic I have heard. Going from notes to notes, the transitions are smooth. Its almost impossible, having heard this library played live by Daniel James a few months ago (the video is on Youtube, its like a 3 hour video) to play something that is unrealistic. Contrast that with nearly every choir library and it requires alot of work tweaking the CC data to get transitions to sound realistic. Other libraries, note lengths and sustains, and all the other little details have to be tweaked or each sample sounds different from the previous, resulting in an unnatural transition.

Now, I havent actually played with this library yet, so my personal experience may be different, but if I can just load this in and use it to sketch some basic oohs and aahs without spending 20 minutes having to micromanage the cc data to get it to sound realistic, that for me will be a huge plus.

Great info, thanks. But I think Insolidous can't do "type and sing". The strong point are variety of multi- syllables for fast staccatos.

The ones that I know that can do "type and sing" are East Weast Sym Choirs and Realivox Blue (soloist in this case).
[2009] Sorry for my English. I'm working on it
[2017] I'm beginning to improve. Hell yeah, I'm a fast learner :D

I disagree. VoTOX Wordbuilder allows you to type in normal true English... then edit (rather pedantically) into your composition. Using boys, sopranos, men or any combination you want. What really surprises me (after all these years) is that no-one has brought out a credible alternative. I bought my Ilok dongle a while back after experimenting with the original 2003 release. VoTOX has a few online editing suggestions. This is one.

there you go. waiting for an ilok-free x64 version

But for me seems this the best for vocals and choirs.
Of course not completely sure , must check it when i have it.
But if i see the trailers, its a wow for me.
Eastwest Voices of opera
Eastwest Voices of Soul
Eastwest Voices of the empire
Eastwest Voices of Hollywood Choirs
Hope i have it soon the player and library's
But for the moment find no cracks of the player and library's.
So it should spare and buy before test it.
Music,Hardware and software it should be for everybody.
not only for rich people that can buy the best.

Wow. This looks very nice! Do you have non-latin libraries this nice?

It would appear to not work. You can only make it load in Kontakt by manually loading the file, but no matter which key you press you get a click, nothing more. The samples can be played individually but that's not a great help. Unless someone knows otherwise, this is borked.

Same problem here. It doesn't work. Only noise and clicks when you press any key. Has anybody been successful to make it work?

I am using Kontakt 6.04 but still crackling!! Even in standalone mode. It seems the problem is in the word builder. I cannot believe it, I've been waiting for this library for so long...

I dropped a dm to the chap that released it, he said it needed the cracked version of kontakt 5.8.1 but he was using portable version of 6.04. maybe its that? Needs portable?

Do you get a red cpu meter while crackling?

Try using Asio4all driver and/or play with the buffer size of your

driver/audio interface...

I've tried with the buffer and also changing sample rate just in case, but none of them seem to be the solution. I'd try the portable version but it's only for windows. After the crackeling you can hear the tail of the samples, but only the vowels, it seems that the word engine crashes. Kontakt shows this message: SCRIPT WARNING (Line: 10447, Script: 1) real_to_int() clipped -inf to -2147483684.

Even I cannot use it, thank you very much WAVEFORMRIDER for sharing this great library. You rock!!

No, it seems the portable version is only available for windows. Are you on OS X too?

Windows, when I get a minute to breath I will try the portable 6.04 and let you know if that is the solution
  Member 2.03.2019 9

Alas, I used the portable, took forever to load the file, about 15 minutes, finally loaded, clickety clack :(

It seems it may be a script bug that makes kontakt crash. If you bypass the script in kontakt advanced view you'll hear the raw samples without cracklings, but unfortunately it is unplayable that way. The question is why the script crashes in some systems and works for other? I've tryied many different kontak versions whithout success...
