ThaLoops - Steinway B-211 Grand Piano KONTAKT screenshot
FANTASTiC 16 June 2016 | 1.3 GB
We are proud to present our first multi-sample instrument - Grand Piano. Provided in Kontakt, ThaLoops Player ® and Soundfont formats. Wether you are producing hip hop, rnb, pop, rock or love to play classic pieces on piano - Steinway & Sons has been providing the standard piano sound for musicians around the world. The samples were recorded in a world class studio through the legendary SSL 4000 console and the finest pre-amps in Europe using 3 pairs of the top quality microphones such as legendary AKG C12, Brauner Valvet and Neumann U-87 placed in an acoustically precise room in order to obtain the genuine piano sonics. ThaLoops team has succeeded in recording the deep, warm, powerful sound of the Steinway Grand Piano B211 model.

AUTHENTIC PIANO

The goal of our team was to provide a highly realistic instrument sound experience while making sure the data size would not be a burden to the user’s memory space. 5 velocity layers per note and real trigger release sounds of almost 1.5 GB individual 24-bit samples were recorded and designed into “Dry Sound” and “Wet Sound” presets with meticulous precision. As an extra, our team also developed the Hip Hop Baby Piano preset for lead melodies great for hip hop productions.

KONTAKT (FULL RETAIL VERSION 4.3 +) All samples are provided in 24-bit .wav format.

Noise from the piano are audible for those who are playing or beside, but when these sounds are amplified through the speakers and heard by all from10 meters away, is something very strange, I don't remember to listen noises from all vinyl records and cds I have. So, your record sessions will be at least aesthetically weird. When in a real church or pipe organ cds, we are able to hear all stomps coming from the organist, But, 'Eward Power Biggs' ever recommended: Please, play in silence.

We can hear a pure Steinway, close to Bruce Hornsby, the samples are well done, but it was sampled too much near the microphones.
The pianissimo 'ppp' is really perfect, better then IVORY, I will use them on other pianos I use, just delete the old ones and rebulding in Kontakt.
But, I don't know, there is something weird with it, first, I tried to erase all 'Release Trigger' to avoid that lazy brains conception and then it needed a kind of compression to be better, when we use extended harmonic pedal, grasps are heard.

ThaLoops Steinway B - 211 was good for clean steinway rock projects, but playing classics, we have better pianos. Sometimes I like, sometimes not.

I am still astonished at EWQL, with a kind of compression, with just 302 MB, try a Big double Steinway, much used on Rock, mixing both thaloops with EWQL in kontakt, same ch 1, less Vol. to thaloops, more to EWQL.

If you want EWQL to compare, just 96 MB, is the second time I drop EWQL here.

You'll just note that much Gigabytes don't say too much!
