This pedal sounds best when going into a clean amp. I loved it into the Neural DSP Tone King plugin (specifically the Pete Thorn pedal platform), also the Plini X JC amp - really any sparkly clean amp becomes a monster with this). Sounds a bit hairy into an already distorted amp.
