Boom Bap 😳? First some kind of neo 6/8 beat rnb and then a 808 trap beat… Totally misunderstanding of the 90s Boom Bap era..

I've seen this on several sample packs lately that the creators have no idea what they're "talking" about. They have no idea about hip-hop, soul & rnb history. The just trying to fool people…

Here is a lesson:

Boom bap is a classic hip-hop production style that emerged in the late 1980s and 1990s, characterized by hard-hitting drum patterns, chopped-up samples, and a raw, gritty sound. The name comes from the “boom” of the kick drum and the “bap” of the snare.

Some of the most famous boom bap producers include:
• DJ Premier – Known for his signature scratched hooks and soulful samples, he shaped the sound of East Coast hip-hop with Gang Starr and countless other legends.
• Pete Rock – A master of jazz-influenced samples and deep, groovy basslines, he helped define the golden era sound.
• J Dilla – Though he later evolved beyond traditional boom bap, his early work had a signature swing that influenced generations.
• The RZA – Built the Wu-Tang Clan’s dark, cinematic sound with dusty samples and raw, unpolished drums.
• Large Professor – An innovator in sample chopping, he worked with legends like Nas and contributed heavily to early ’90s New York hip-hop.

Boom bap remains a foundational hip-hop style, still used by many underground and classic-sounding producers today.
