Is the demo supposed to sound distorted/clipping ? If yes I don't understand how this is something people do intentionally to their mixes :D

its very much a stylistic choice. not everything needs to be uber clean.

alot of producers will intentionally clip the master, depending on the genre, and it isn’t bad to make the master clip to attain that grit/distorted/clipping effect. It’s sometimes necessary but many argue against it mainly bc their opinion on that is coming from a background of engineering “real” music but you can do it both ways.

so many purposely distort their sounds in order to push them and make them sound gritty
