It's best you use pure, non-fucked-with-samples to start with and fuck them up yourself. Drum machine samples from drumcollector dot com (and kb6.de) are good, unprocessed. Want a good apocalyptic-doom-like pad? Make it yourself. Take any synth or sampler (TAL-Sampler is great), play some low note, put some distortion on it not completely wet, put delay and huge, lush (Blackhole-like) reverb quite wet on it and there you go. They sell simple shit like that and call it cool names.

Other good drums and sample banks include Wave Alchemy, Goldbaby, Samples From Mars, Heavyocity, some MPC samples sample packs and you can find all on this website. If you're into Electronica that's all you need. Really good sample banks are quite rare IMHO. I generally use sample banks for inspiration only... Cheers!
