Featuring a full patch of Mmm Sustains
Immerse yourself in the world of contemporary vocals with this vast collection of evolving and percussive vocal textures, inspired by mythological Sirens. The library is performed by virtuoso soprano, Grace Davidson, who is known for her work on over 200 film soundtracks, and her collaborations with legendary composers such as Max Richter and Eric Whitacre.

Built for the free Kontakt Player, this library has a wonderfully compelling and intimate sound which is perfect for capturing a modern cinematic sound world. It features a shallow and depth slider which allows you to transform and twist the performance into a whole new dimension. Our custom user interface was carefully designed to be both intuitive and inspiring, allowing you to warp and shape your sound with filters, reverbs, distortion and much more.

Recorded in lockdown back in July 2020, Sirens is the result of 2 years worth of experimentation and conceptualising. We worked closely with Grace to curate a selection of unique and contemporary vocal techniques that we felt would offer a wide range of sounds to refresh your musical palette.

To capture Grace’s world renowned vocal tone, we decided to choose a dry recording environment and use a selection of carefully placed microphones to capture every detail and inflection to create the most realistic result possible. Inspired by modern film composers such as Jóhann Jóhannsson, Max Richter and Eric Whitacre, we wanted to capture not only a very particular tonal quality, but also some very specific articulations which we feel represent the musical landscape that is featured throughout many of our favourite film scores.

The full version of the library includes articulations such as Warped Sustains, Whispers, Shakes, Octaves Rises, Octave Falls, Major 3rd Raises, Minor 3rd Raises, Perfect 4th Raises, Perfect 5th Raises, 14 Percussive Gestures, and 3 types of sustain including Mmm, Ahh and Uhh. Not only do these sounds work wonderfully as aleatoric effects but also can be used very musically and can be used to create fascinating and dark, soulful atmospheres which enrich scores and bring an amazingly raw and lifelike sound which is usually unachievable with samples.

This has a sweet sound in a small footprint.
Usually a small sample size is too Lo-Fi for a "sweet" vocal instrument IMO.
