This volume features drones created using proprietary resynthesis techniques. This diverse collection is a particularly important tool for the contemporary and avant garde composer/musician, and also a great resource for film composers.

Drone Archeology offers a selection of unique tones that are steady in pitch but have constant movement so that they are never the same from one moment to the next. The drones were designed to have "focused spectrums" i.e., to occupy a measured amount of the sonic space in the stereo field. Even though they are extremely rich and evocative tones, they do not dominate or overpower the overall mix by leaving little room for other timbres. In other words, using these drones in polyphonic passages will not obscure other musical detail.

The CD ROM is available in Akai format only.

Reviews and Feedback :
"Dramatic, intense, and varied."
- John Fontana, Seattle, Washington

" In a market crowded with 'me-too' jungle and hip-hop CDs, sound developer Ernest Cholakis has come up with something as original as it is useful: a whole CD of electronic drone tones.... Space/Ambient artists will be in hog heaven. If I could give a soundware product an 11 for Documentation, this CD would win it!...An inspiring collection....Ifound myself unable to stop singing or playing along with these drones.'"
- JIM AIKIN, Keyboard (USA)

"Among the many hip sample CDs in today's market, there lurks an occasional gem that really excites me. Drone Archeology ...My jaw dropped to the floor when I saw the 111-page booklet and the accompanying session worksheets included with the disc. I wanted to hug the producers. In the booklet, you get incredibly detailed explanations of every aspect of the the drones. I just loved this disk. CD producers take note; this is how to do it right. Eminently musical and useful, presented with admirable forethought and enough detailed information to sate even the most sophisticated users, Drone Archeology is a hit. A big high five for Ernest Cholakis."
- JEFF OBEE, Electronic Musician

" The sound palette is drawn from a wide number of different and original recorded sources which have then been resynthesised and given helpfully descriptive names such as Sand Dunes, Anguish, Turbulence and Pouring Liquid Steel (hear it, you'll understand)....There's loads of individuality and character to this release and, while it is firmly a 'specialist' product and unlikely to ever win true mass appeal, keeping close to its ambient and seriously spaced-out agenda makes it a curious, fragile but mostly rewarding sampling experience."
- Sound on Sound (UK)
