templates are lame. i used to use them and was called out by a friend who i highly respect and i felt like complete shit. well deserved tho. i learned that template are shortcuts and to make music that is truly your 'voice' and that can stand the test of time and have a heavy impact you need to as little shortcuts as possible.

The way i see it ,templates are very useful for reverse engineering, getting a bit to see in the minds, workflow and technicalities (as well as arrangement) of more experienced producers. Afterwards, when you get more confident in your own process they should be ditched. Definitely, they should not dictate the way you make music (otherwise, you'd be just a copycat, nothing more).
