Because he has the source. And the source is: "Voices in my head". Acustica Audio was and was "impossible". Nexus too, was "impossible". When you least expect it... Take it.

Not in a million years
Come here just to try the software and buy it afterwards.
If I don't like the software I will just DELETE it.

This was once said about Cubase, and here we are. I'm optimistic for the native UAD stuff.

Actually Cubase didn't get cracked till Steinberg droped the elicenser protection and that's why Cubase got cracked and I'm sure they knew it even before deciding to change their protection, as for UAD it's a combination of a special protection along with iLok so I don't get my hopes up at all, hope that helps.

UAD could drop their ilok cloud system at some point as well. If Steinberg did it for Cubase (which people thought would never happen) it's possible they could change the way you access their plug-ins, also. Who knows, is the answer.

Cubase made itself crackable. They know what they are doing.

Why exactly? To expose their vulnerabilities?

Cracked versions can increase brand awareness, leading users to eventually purchase the legitimate version for full functionality or support. Unfortunately I can't find the article about it right now, there was once information about Ableton or FL Studio that the cracked versions led exactly to the effects.

i stopped using cubase and several other software developers using the elicenser system, although i had payed for their very expensive software..
it was a hassle having a physical object i need to bring everywhere, and they had atrocious support - i could loose the elicenser ONCE, if it happened again, it was just too bad.. its like a key, you just have to hold on to it, they told me.. but i can make copies of a key, and its not made of plastic and electronics, so thats a load of bull.. i want my software to be accessible, not something that can cost me weeks to get back as well as many many $ when ive already paid for it, just cause they cant control their protection..
i was on quite the anti-cubase/elicenser roll for some years, and made sure to steer as many people as possible in a different direction.. that obviously made very little difference, but if enough people were pissed, and at the same time a lot of new daws have been popping up, being much more responsive and with better support and ease of use, that would surely undermine their business at some point..
i dont usually answer these threads, but this just brought a little of the 'pissed' back haha
