Five compositional video lessons cover the creation of riffs, passing notes, how to expand ideas, melodies/motifs and how to finish your songs. With each lesson, you are guided through the topic, and given tips and tricks on how to bring together those "one minute ideas", whether they're sitting in your brain, on a Logic file or still fresh on the fretboard.

As a starting point to learn from, there are 20 fully improvised licks over each section of the Innervate backing, where you’ll see exactly how Connor approaches his own music in real time in a recording session. But a song is nothing without rhythm. Connor comes at you with 10 isolated riffs, lifted straight from “Innervate” so that you can learn them at your own pace, and piece together the building blocks of a larger musical creation.

And to really bring that home, comes that track itself: Innervate. This 4 minute, genre hopping bop draws on metal, blues, jazz, and rock. In doing so, it shows you how to channel the chaos of those smaller riff ideas into something greater, more cohesive and with more meaning for both you and the listener.
