Unique colors and textures
Andea features a diverse selection of rare and highly sought-after instruments, including:

Ronroco
A 10-string mandolin-like instrument with a deeper range than a charango. A favorite of composer Gustavo Santaolalla.

8-string ukulele
Four pairs of nylon strings produce a rounded, rich tone whether playing sustained notes, trills, or chords.

Paraguayan harp
The national instrument of Paraguay, perfect for traditional folk songs or delicate passages.

Bombo
An Argentinian military drum with an animal-skin head and playable wooden hoops that produces deep tones with dry timbres.

Berimbau
A bow-like Brazilian instrument with a taut wire, played with a stick while holding a shaker.

Panpipes
Instantly evoking Andean mountain culture, the siku family of panpipes is used in traditional and modern music from South America.

Moseño
A bamboo flute with Bolivian origins, offering warm, breathy timbres across a narrow pitch range.

Sun-Moon ocarina
One of several ocarinas: Clay wind instruments with a plaintive tone. Well-suited to evocative melodies, folk, or fantasy themes.

Shakers
Eight distinct shaker instruments—made from gourds, animal hooves, branches, baskets, sticks, and metals—that help propel music forward.

Authentic and intimate:
Andea presents distinctive instruments meticulously recorded with expert players. All instruments are represented as faithfully as possible—with actual pitch ranges plus instrument-specific mapping and articulations—so you can build authentic parts. And for easy playability, you also get chromatic patches. With instruments captured through four mixable mic positions, Andea offers a dry, immediate, and intimate sound that you can shape and sculpt easily.

Plucked strings:
The plucked-string collection features a rare Paraguayan harp, which lends an authentic yet mysterious and magical character to soundtracks. Andea also includes multiple guitars and lutes—from ronroco, charango, and 8-string ukulele to tres, tiple, and guitarrón—to give you a range of timbres for solo passages and ensemble playing. Add color to melodic lines with tremolos, trills, slides, and bends. Provide rhythmic accompaniment with chord and strumming articulations.

Wind instruments:
Whether you’re invoking distant landscapes or creating a contemporary soundtrack for American adventures, Andea’s wind instruments provide a rich source of inspiration. Multiple flutes, siku panpipes, and ocarinas let you find the right tones and pitch ranges for contemplative passages and haunting melodies. Staccato notes, sustains, bends, and ornaments help you craft nuanced performances.

Percussion:
With a drum collection that includes congas, bongos, bombos, snares, and a cajita coplera, Andea enables you to choose the perfect drum textures and create dramatic percussive accents. Layer in guiros and shakers to build syncopated patterns that add motion to sections. Use log drums for the foundation for natural soundscapes. And draw from specialized instruments, like the berimbau and kultrun, to support anything from popular music to ceremonial sounds.
