Having worked with the likes of Coldplay, Adele, The Weeknd, P!nk, Katy Perry, Ed Sheeran, Scorpions and countless more, multi-Grammy Award-winning Swedish powerhouse producer/mixer/engineer Michael Ilbert has been a cogwheel in shaping the sound of modern music history through his now-30-plus-year career.

Needless to say, we’re excited to bring you another project that bears his sonic seal – this time in the form of two EZXs. To add, these are not just any EZXs; they’re iconic from top to bottom. Recorded at Ilbert’s choice studio, Los Angeles’ legendary Sunset Sound, comprising a handpicked selection of kits and recorded using all of Ilbert’s hallmark production traits, these two gems of expansions couldn’t have more fitting names than the Signature EZXs. THE OVERALL IDEA.

Michael Ilbert’s vision behind this project was as simple as it was bold:

(1) Get the most iconic, recorded and favored drum kits on the LA studio circuit

(2) Have a studio scene legend of a drum tech curate, treat and tune them to perfection

(3) Bring them to one of the most legendary and recorded rooms in music history

For mainstream rock, pop, alternative and indie!

Captured in Sunset Sound’s Studio 2, this EZX has legend written all over it from the outset. Add to that Michael Ilbert’s expertly designed signal chains and recording techniques applied to some of the most recorded drum kits on the LA scene – curated, tuned and prepped by someone equally notable on the LA studio circuit: Ross Garfield from the noted Drum Doctors. The result? An EZX chock-full of drums with power, grit and attitude – captured in the vibrantly energetic and reverberant ambience heard on albums by the likes of The Doors, Maroon 5, Led Zeppelin, Rage Against the Machine and countless more.
