REQ: Moment whoTF areU, a Folie x Forget Basement moment

whoTF are Folie and Forget Basement. The duo met in Chicago in 2021, and immediately sparked a tantalizing collaboration. Folie, known for her pop experimentalism and hyper-loud expression, has released on Dylan Brady’s Dog Show Records and collaborated with the likes of gupi and Alice Longyu Gao. Forget Basement’s expansive body of work traverses musical landscapes from art-pop peaks to dark industrial wastelands. The fusion of their sounds—described as “whimsically intense,” by the Chicago Reader—culminates in their upcoming debut EP, featuring a guest appearance from Fraxiom.

‘whoTF areU’ is a formal introduction to the silly-yet-serious duo and their like-described sonic palette: dubstep wubs and distorted screams interspersed with brilliant pop melodies and evocative textural fx. You may find yourself asking, “whatTF is this sound?” and “whyTF do I need it so bad??”
