Mixing With Compression is the original Weiss Tutorial, now remade in 2021! This course will examine how compressors work, but more importantly, why we use them!

The crux of my compression philosophy is thinking of sound as having a physical shape. Compression inherently effects this shape, and changes the textures and tones within the attack, the sustain, and the release of the sound! (DON’T FORGET TO CHECK “MY DOWNLOADS” FOR NOISE BURST TRACKOUTS)

Once we start thinking about the shape of sound, we start thinking about reshaping sound. I demonstrate compression techniques on a number of common sources as well as some more specialized techniques that can be extremely useful (as well as fun).

-Use compression to manipulate punch, density, and rhythm.
