Your first stop sees you delve into the basics of pentatonic groupings; ideas that will help you smoothly navigate the fretboard while offering a framework for your own creations. Tuning up your slides will show you how to travel in and out of different groups, and with the addition of intervals, colour notes and chromatics, you’ll see how Claudio begins to mix in the higher spec techniques that stand out.
As a car needs a driver, a lick needs rhythm. This is where Claudio next takes us, on a rhythm exercise pitstop that will rev up your lead lines. Then as we near our end destination, there’s a three note per string exploration to overcome.
Before you park up, there’s one last place to visit; an aptly named solo called “Trail Blazer” which brings together and contextualises the ideas. You’ll be challenged to a technical workout of legato and hybrid picking, whether you simply use this solo for inspiration or learn it note by note to cement the key ideas at hand.
