I do love Ample Sound stuff, they have clever artics, responds rly well to velocity; all their acoustic guitars have something worthwhile, and some of the electric ones. Only real problem is the awful (unusable) vib D: which is hopefully what they've fixed w/ this update? You can only rly tell by using it, but it legit does all kinds of awful pitch-bend weird stuff, as well as sounding pretty bad on its own!
Thx to anybody posting Spitfire / OTB libs!

What are you referring to? Vibrato?

What is your fav out of MusicLab, OTS Evolution, Shreddage, and Ample Sound?

Yeah, vibrato. I think that (I only tried 3) Shreddage does it rly well. I don't mind OTS. Too much? It's moar that (w/ AS) that the vib does a weird thing where it almost pitch bends as you start to move the controller, then gives a "better" (less wild) vib. Which still sounds pretty lousy / unnatural! Hopefully that "mod rate" thing will fix it. I mean, I have to not use vib w/ it, which annoys when the rest of AS is so good / works so well =(

When I said "some" of their electric guits, it's just that I've only tried some of them..

(I don't think I've used Musiclab for years, btw. Are they still using those samples from 1997? :D No, I mean, is it actually worth using again...?)

NOBODY'S vibrato is adequate for me because they are too perfect. When a human does it, there are inconsistencies we are bound to that make a software's interpretation of vibrato sound funny to me. A software's vibrato has an exact speed and depth that stays the same the whole time and it annoys me with it's inhuman perfection. I advise you to practice using the pitch bend to emulate a guitarist's vibrato. It sounds much more like the real thing.

For some reason, I like the "feel" and sound of MusicLab's guitars a lot. Not really sure how old the samples are, but the end result is a more realistic sounding guitar to me that's easy to work with. I like the vast selection of the OTS Evolution series too. While I still use them occasionally, Ample Sound's guitars take a long time to open the GUI in my DAW(SONAR Platinum) compared to the others.

I generally use virtual guitars for lead parts only because it's so hard for me to get the exact rhythm/strum pattern that I want and making music HAS to be an organic and not a scientific process for me. I'm not cool with using measure/bar grids where I click in notes with a mouse(manual sequencing) so I usually just get my homie Glenn McKinney to lay down rhythm parts. He co-wrote and is playing on Brandy's "Baby" and "Best Friend" from her first album.

I think Shreddage 3 uses sampled vib, but it sounds good (actually rly good) enough to me? I always try not to overuse! I agree with using (ideally) PB for vib, but I kinda use it to slide in/out. Might be too difficult to use it twice! (I'm not sure I got the technique for it, either )=

I never use any of the strum etcs stuff in any lib, I just wanna kinda emulate playing a real guit. Even if it sounds a bit unnatural. I just wish I could Frankenstein together all the best bits from guit libs! I do agree w/ you about AS, they give you some really nice, playable "responses" to what you try to do; a good "feel" / feedback to velocity input and playing, very nearly perfect.. (Let's hope v3 is a no-brainer buy, if we ever get to test it...)
